"I was 3 years old, and my brother was 2, when my parents started noticing that my brother Raphael wasn’t speaking or trying to speak like kids his age. My parents brought him to many doctors appointments and he was diagnosed with autism. The doctors even told my parents that he would be nonverbal. But at 17 years old, my brother is speaking full sentences and answering back to us when we ask questions. Seeing my baby brother’s progress throughout the years makes me so emotional because he was my first best friend and I have supported him through all of his accomplishments.
My parents, my younger sister, and I are beyond proud of him and how far he has come. He never lets his disability get in the way of anything he has in his mind. We can’t wait for many more of his accomplishments!"
