Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to bring warmth, creativity, and connection to our residents and community. Crafting together not only brightens the space but also encourages residents to share stories, memories, and laughter. Getting together for Thanksgiving is a cherished tradition that strengthens family bonds and creates lasting memories. Engaging in seasonal hands-on crafts offers a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect, share stories, and express their creativity. So play some soft Thanksgiving or autumn themed music, encourage some story telling and let’s take photos of the finished crafts and share them on a ‘Thankful Memories’ Board or online for all to enjoy.
Here are some easy Thanksgiving crafts and projects that families can enjoy together over the holidays:

Handprint Turkeys: Have grandchildren place their hands in non-toxic paint and press them onto paper, then add details like googly eyes, legs and feathers using paint, markers or crayons.

Gratitude Jars: Decorate small jars with paint, markers, or stickers. Each person can write down things they are thankful for on slips of paper and place them in the jar.
These can be read together atter Thanksgiving dinner.

Thankful Tree: Cut out a tree trunk and branches from brown construction paper and tape it to a wall. Have family members cut out colorful leaves and write what they’re thankful for on each leaf. Attach the leaves to the tree with tape.

Fall Leaf Art: Collect colorful autumn leaves and use them to create collages or rubbings.
Place a leaf under a piece of paper and rub a crayon over it to create an impression.

Thanksgiving Wreaths: Use paper plates as a base for a wreath. Cut out the center and decorate the outer edge with glued on fall-themed items like leaves, acorns, and dried corn.
Or simply cut out leaves and berry shapes from colorful paper and tape or glue them on.

Crafting together turns Thanksgiving into a celebration of creativity, gratitude, and community spirit.

It’s Halloween Week!
Last of the decor is up and collecting candy for all the little Trick or Treating ghosts and princesses! There’s still time to have some fun and have a creative day with some arts and crafts. Here’s some fun simple crafts we can all do together!
HANDPRINT SPIDERS:
Apply black paint to your palm and four fingers leaving out the thumb. Place palm onto a piece of paper. Turn the paper 180° and print again making sure the palm overlaps. Add some googly eyes using either paint or stickers.
PAINT A PUMPKIN:
Pumpkin carving can be messy, difficult, and sometimes dangerous.
Instead, use some permanent markers or acrylic paint to make your pumpkin look like a monster, clown, or other Halloween character. The smaller “pie pumpkins” or even the mini-pumpkins will work perfectly for this craft.
Don’t have any pumpkins?
Grab some paper plates to use as your pumpkin and paint them orange, yellow, or green. Once the plates are dry, cut out shapes from additional plates or colored paper and glue them on for the eyes, nose, and mouth to create scary, happy, or wacky faces. Don’t forget to add a green stem to complete your pumpkin!
Happy Halloween!
