Why I Started Rafter K Equine Therapy
Hi All,
I’m Kasey Wagnon the founder of Rafter K Equine Therapy. I wanted to tell you all a little about myself and why I decided to start this business.
Firstly, I am from Beggs, OK. I grew up and went to school in a little town called Liberty Mounds. I grew up in a Race Barn owned by my grandparents, which is where the “crazy horse lady” I am, was created. We bred, raised, and trained race horses and THEN, I also started showing POA’s. Eventually, I decided that I had the need for speed which developed my love for the sport of Barrel Racing. I started at the age of 5 years old. I started with my first horse Sam (Ream’s SandPiper). I eventually quit showing ponies by the time I was 13 and strictly went to barrel jackpots and rodeo’s only.
I attended Junior College at Connors State College in January of 2013. Which started my College Rodeo Career with Rare Lee (Bill). I’m sure most of you know Bill but, if you don’t here is his back story. He was born on our place, he was the last baby out of one of our first broodmares (Galla Lee). Bill was born in March of 2003. We grew up together, we ran (and still do ) run barrels together. Shoot, we even went to college together. Bill was the reason I got to college rodeo competitively. He lead me to numerous short rounds and a short round and average win at Weatherford, Ok in 2015. Our first year in we had a college rodeo at Durant, OK. The ground wasn’t the greatest but we managed (so I thought). We came out of the arena 3 legged. He had pulled a muscle in his shoulder. Long story short..... It was a long recovery for the both of us. Had I known then what I know now, massage therapy could’ve really benefitted him then and had him back in action much quicker and feeling much better as well.
