Social engagement in older age is vital for physical, mental and emotional health. Actively connecting with others helps combat loneliness, depression, and anxiety. Our “card sharks” club is a fine example of the benefits of a senior living community providing not only a safe living environment, but the opportunity to make new friendships and connections.

We had a fantastic Easter egg hunt at our community this morning with our neighborhood friends, the Easter bunny, and Rudi, the dinosaur. Children enjoyed crafting and egg hunting, and pictures with the bunny and our residents enjoyed sitting out in the mild weather watching the fun.

Saint Paddy’s Day is kind of a big deal here at Viva. We enjoyed a lovely musical performance by Laura The Harpest, she played all the old Irish standards and told stories about each song.  We had treats and green Gatorade, played games and of course explored some Irish trivia.

As is our yearly St. Patrick’s tradition, we had a showing of The Quiet Man in our cinema room.  This is a movie classic starring John Wayne and the feisty Maureen O’Hara; it’s a love story filmed in Ireland 🍀  In keeping with the festive mood we served Irish soda bread with Irish butter, and green apple juice. Sla’inte!
