Back to Utah ! It was wonderful to be back and see some of my clients that I used to teach when I lived there. It was 10 days with a lot of growth!
One of the biggest lessons was with Sparky! He is the Arabian stallion I trained as my personal horse for two years and he is now nicknamed Sparkles since he was gelded! 😅 He taught me that horses do not forget their training at all. I worked with him like I was with him two days ago, not two years ago! 😀 It only took two quick reminders and he gave me back everything I taught him. This included stretching and collection with w/t/c, Spanish walking, lying down, and almost the sit too ! What a great little guy! 💗 I am so grateful for our journey together.
Another big lesson was with Milton, a sensitive young half draft horse. He went through some past experiences which did not help him to build his confidence. I spent the week helping him to find trust in human leadership and even to find playfulness through what was originally so scary for him. In this one week, it was a pleasure to see him work with other human leaders, by playing with groundwork, riding with a ball like a “soccer game”, w/t/c over a tarp or other “scary” tarp scenarios. I was so happy to see this horse open up to his playful energy. I guess this lesson is about not forcing horses not to be scared but to become a true leader and help them to trust you, to become curious and even to be playful about it. One of their natural way to process it.
Thank you everyone for your warm welcome! 💗
