You’ve likely come across our posts about our free Postpartum Support Group and maybe you’ve even joined a session or two. Now it’s time to properly introduce the amazing person who leads these groups... Meet Maria!

"Hi there! I’m Maria Jimenez, a graduate social work student at Western Michigan University, where I focus on perinatal mental health. My passion for this work comes from my own experience with a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, which showed me just how isolating this journey can feel, and how important support really is.

I want you to know: you’re not alone, and it truly does get better. I care deeply about supporting both moms and dads as they navigate this season of life.

I live in Belding with my husband, our three children, and our three cats. When I’m not studying or working, I love watching The Great British Baking Show and diving into all things related to perinatal care.

After graduating this May, I plan to continue working with new parents and offering support through our postpartum support group. This group is a welcoming space for moms in their first year after giving birth to connect, share, and feel supported.

We’d love to have you join us!"

It’s easy to see the practical support postpartum doulas provide… washing the dishes, folding that pile of laundry, holding baby while you shower, entertaining the toddler while you feed baby… But we also want to say this:

Sometimes our postpartum visits are not about the practical things at all.

Sometimes they are about sitting together and talking through how you are really feeling. About processing your birth, how you're getting through your days, or just the weight of it all even weeks or months later.

That kind of support matters too, and you do not have to carry it alone.
