👂✨ Normal vs. Infected Eardrum

Swipe ➡️ to compare a normal eardrum (also called the tympanic membrane or TM) with one that’s not normal—this one has an infection known as Otitis Media (ear infection).

🩺 What you’ll notice:
🔹 Normal eardrum: translucent, pearly gray, clear light reflex, no fluid behind the eardrum
🔹 Infected eardrum: red or bulging, dull or absent light reflex, and often fluid or pus behind the eardrum (sometimes with bubbles)

We use a Bebird camera to take these photos—it’s an awesome tool for our team AND for parents! 📷💡
If your child has ear pain or is tugging at their ears, you can use a Bebird at home and send a photo to your doctor for faster answers and peace of mind. 🏡

💚 Our hearts are breaking for everyone affected by the Kerville flooding and the families whose children attend Camp Mystic.

💚 Dr. Paige’s daughter just spent 4 weeks at Camp Mystic, and like so many of our families, our children attend summer camps in the hill country and many of our PurePediatrics families attend Camp Mystic.

💚 What can you do to show support? Go green for Camp Mystic. Please keep their families first in your thoughts, and pray for the first responders tirelessly working to find these children and families.

💚 For your children, like any disaster, it can be traumatizing to repeatedly see coverage of this terrible news. As parents, we want to stay abreast of the situation, but remember that children can suffer from too much information. Try to limit their exposure to social media and the news during this difficult time. Hug them tight, reassure them, love them, like you do every day.

Dr. Paige (Pediatrician) and Dr. Boswell (Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecologist) are teaming up for a special event created just for 4th & 5th grade girls and their trusted adult—whether that’s mom, dad, grandmother, aunt - you name it!

They’ll be hosting a Girlology session: an age-appropriate, confidence-building conversation about puberty, changing bodies, and all the things growing girls need to know—backed by accurate medical information.

Bonus for the adults: While this event is focused on the girls, Dr. Boswell also sees women for midlife wellness gynecology—so if you’re navigating your own hormone journey, she’s a fantastic resource for moms too!

Our office will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. However, our doctors will still be available and can be reached through the Spruce app for any urgent needs.

A “Little” Story About a “Little” Pediatric Practice

purePEDIATRICS was founded in 2013 by Dr. Alana Kennedy-Nasser, a board certified pediatrician and pediatric hematologist/oncologist, who saw a need for value-based, time-rich, personalized pediatric care. As a mom of four, going to the pediatrician was a painful experience! From long wait times to crowded waiting rooms, a two-hour visit to the office usually ended with only five minutes with the doctor. Thus, with the support of her family and friends, she started this “little” practice - the first pediatrician to offer a concierge, membership-based practice to families in the greater Houston area. It is our belief that patient-centered care is the best care, and we are so happy you have taken the time to visit our page and our “little” practice.
