At Lakeside Medical Center, our teaching hospital in the Glades, our imaging team utilizes a new, state-of-the-art 3D mammography machine to ensure you receive the highest-quality care. Ask your primary care or women's health doctor for a referral to schedule your mammogram at Lakeside Medical Center or another convenient location. If you need a doctor, call (561) 642-1000 to make an appointment at one of our 10 community health centers, where we offer women’s health services and treat all patients regardless of ability to pay.

We were honored to host the Leadership Palm Beach County's Executive Committee and Board of Governors at Lakeside Medical Center, our teaching hospital in Belle Glade. Regina All, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, presented an overview about the Health Care District’s diverse services and programs before attendees toured the acute care hospital.

Dr. Kalathoor was born in India and currently resides in West Palm Beach. He looks forward to building the foundation to be the best physician he can be for his patients. Post-residency, Dr. Kalathoor aspires to have a successful practice treating patients from all walks of life and being an integral member of his community.

Born in Chicago and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Bereisha traveled thousands of miles to study medicine in Lithuania. He prefers the country over city life and looks forward to training at Lakeside Medical Center where he will provide care for patients in the rural Glades communities.

Born and raised in Jordan, Dr. Issa migrated to the United States seven years ago. He lived in three states before landing in Florida. Dr. Issa completed an emergency medicine residency in the U.S. and then realized his passion was practicing family medicine. He is excited to start his training at Lakeside Medical Center where residents are immersed in all aspects of family medicine and patients are treated like family.

Dr. Nyla Naeem refers to herself as a “Florida orange.” She was born and raised in South Florida and also attended college and medical school in the Sunshine State. The Palm Beach County resident is excited to be able to serve her neighbors in the Glades. After she graduates, Dr. Naeem hopes to earn certification in obesity medicine and pursue a fellowship in osteopathic manipulative and neuromuscular medicines.

Dr. Albu’s path to Lakeside Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program has woven through Moldova and Romania, where she worked as a general surgeon for a year in a small community hospital. She moved to the United States to be closer to her parents, brother and other relatives. Dr. Albu joined our Health Care District team as a medical assistant at the Belle Glade community health center in June 2022. When applying to residency programs, she realized the perfect fit was at Lakeside Medical Center in the community she was already serving.

Milacoya Latimore, RN, is a registered nurse in the medical-surgical unit at Lakeside Medical Center where she provides best-in-class direct patient care from admission through discharge. She prioritizes clear communication with her patients and their families so they are educated on their diagnosis and prognosis, treatment options and recovery. Latimore started her almost 30-year nursing career at the former Glades General Hospital. She holds an Associate of Science in Nursing from Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, FL.

Today we officially launched our two new ground ambulances named Apollo and Atlas! Our ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade with many local elected officials, District board members and community leaders in attendance. This ambulance service will help improve patient wait times and access to high-quality care.

In Their Own Words: Breast Cancer Survivor Bonita Hughes

In the United States, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Bonita Hughes, RN, Charge Nurse, Surgical Services at Lakeside Medical Center is a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in 2016. While sharing her story, Hughes urges women to get regular screenings and mammograms available at LMC. The Women’s Health Services department at Lakeside Medical Center offers mammograms along with maternity services, support for newborn care and bone density testing.
