As an adaptive yoga instructor you DO NOT…

1. need to know your client’s diagnosis or full medical history. Sometimes, information is offered freely, other times you may go into a session with limited information. You can learn a great deal through observation, presence, and listening. As a yoga teacher, you are not a doctor. It is important to stay within your scope.

2. have to correct postures unless they are harmful. When someone is being open enough to practice, it’s beneficial to me mindful around how you “correct” and offer feedback. Build rapport before you offer feedback.

3. have to only teach asana… meditation, mantra, and pranayama are all powerful elements to incorporate.

3. fill every moment with cueing or verbal direction. Allow room for silence.

4. need to expect consistency or “improvement” from session to session.

5. need to focus on creating goals or outcomes. Being present in the practice and moment is powerful.

♥️ In adaptive yoga, you do not need to force, fix, explain, or prove anything. You are here to offer options, cultivate safety, and honor choice. When we let go of doing, we create space for autonomy, presence, and true inclusion.

Our goal is to foster an empowering environment where all yoga shapes are honored and valued equally.

We make this come to life by opting out of demoing and cueing in a hierarchical way.

If you…
• Demo with props and blocks first
• Introduce different expressions of a poses
• Treat each yoga shape practiced as equal

You begin to create a space where empowerment is built through movement.

Using neutral language and moving away from hierarchical cues helps create an environment where practitioners feel supported in choosing what feels best for their minds and bodies.

If you want to elevate the way you cue your classes comment CUES and I’ll send you some information.
