Mayor Jamie York, alongside City Administrator Leah Sommerhoff, had the privilege of recognizing two individuals whose actions truly define courage and service.

Police Chief Rebekah Rickstrew and Public Works Supervisor Josh Vanek were presented with Certificates of Valor for their heroic actions during a recent structure fire.

Arriving first on scene and without hesitation, Chief Rickstrew and Supervisor Vanek entered a dangerous and life-threatening situation to pull a resident from a burning home—an act that undoubtedly saved a life.

Their bravery, quick thinking, and selfless commitment to others are a powerful reminder of what it means to serve this community.

We also extend our appreciation to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, EMS personnel, and neighbors who assisted during this emergency. It is through teamwork like this that Caldwell continues to look out for one another.

This is Caldwell. This is community. This is courage.
