What an awesome community event last Saturday! The Lutheran Home campus was two stops during the Belle Plaine Amazing Race. First stop- the Kingsway Ratzkelker and second stop the bell tower behind Hope Residence. The racers had to complete challenges before receiving their next clue and our residents had a lot of fun engaging and cheering them on. It was a blast!

Residents and staff of The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine had a very busy October going to Ferguson's Apple Orchard, Scarecrowfest (combing a scarecrow contest and Oktoberfest into one), a Halloween party and Chamber Community trick or treating, and all of the things in between. It was a fun month - stay tuned for more fun things that are currently happening now!

Some of the ladies were busy this morning making homemade cinnamon rolls in Sohie’s Suites. Who doesn’t love the smell of cinnamon baking and fresh warm gooey-ness of that finished pan hot out of the oven!!

Kingsway residents had an awesome time handing out candy and treats to the community kiddos and seeing all of the different costumes. Thank you Belle Plaine, family, and friends for bringing so much joy!

Some senior students from Belle Plaine High School spent time interviewing our residents at Kingsway. As part of a project for their Global Literature class they have been reading “Tuesday’s With Morrie”. The goal is for the students to learn where true fulfillment comes from by engaging with seniors who are willing to share life lessons. Their teacher Amy Giles plans to return with the completed project to share with the interviewees. Students asked questions relating to personal culture and how it contrasts with the superficial values of society.
Thank you Amy and students for the opportunity to be a part of your class project. The residents loved it!
