April is National Occupational Therapy Month, a time to recognize the important role occupational therapy plays in helping people live life to the fullest through everyday activities. Occupational therapy focuses on the meaningful things people do each day - self-care, work, school, volunteering, and family life - to support health, independence, and overall well-being.

The 2026 theme, “Enriching Lives Through Meaningful Engagement,” highlights the impact OT practitioners have in empowering individuals to take part in daily routines, activities, and roles that bring purpose, improve health, and enhance quality of life.

Thank you to our occupational therapists who give their all every day for our patients and their families. 🩶

April is a time to recognize those who give so generously of their time, energy, and heart 💙

At OSPTA, our volunteers are at the core of what we do - we truly wouldn’t be the same without them. Thank you to each and every person who shows up to make a difference in our patients’ lives.

This month, we’re giving a special shoutout to our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Heidi ✨
For the past 9 years, Heidi has been the heart behind our volunteer program. When asked to choose a favorite memory, she shared, “There are too many to choose just one. I choose to work for OSPTA because we are one big family who always puts our patients first.”

Eddie caught a glimpse of a police car in action a few weeks ago & couldn’t stop talking about it. Our Assistant Director of Business Development, Rachel, decided to make his dreams come true. 🩶 PSP Trooper Barnhart took the time out of her busy schedule to make this happen & we couldn’t be more grateful. She was kind & patient with Eddie while he soaked up the moment! THIS is what it’s all about. This is why we do what we do. 💙

If OSPTA is a family, Alysia is the family member who makes every gathering a party. 💃
Alysia has been with OPSTA for a little over 4 years. She started as a CNA and eventually took her position as the Activities Coordinator.
Alysia has a ton of favorite memories from her years with OSPTA, but the ones that she says stand out the most are definitely the Glamour Photo Sessions she has hosted.
“It’s so nice to see the ladies get their hair and makeup done by local VoTech students, put on a boa and a crown, and get the most beautiful photos taken. Everyone involved in this project, no matter which facility we are at, have really enjoyed it! The reactions to the photos are such a great reminder of why we do what we do.
I choose to work fo OSPTA because- as cliche as it sounds- we are definitely a family. I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”
We couldn’t imagine our OSPTA family without Alysia. 🩶💙
