You cannot change a single thing through worry and wishing. Let go and let your mind and heart be free from the anxiety that consumes the space you have given to that which you cannot control.

Relationships are challenging! Whether days, months, or years into a connection you are susceptible to struggles. Often these struggles arise when we lose sight of our intentions. We were never meant to create a connection, commit to a relationship, and then become CONSUMED with or by our partner. The success of any relationship is in the way each partner COMPLEMENTS one another.

Successful relationships radiate authentic admiration for each party involved. They celebrate the strengths of one another while offering support in the weak and vulnerable places. They allow for differences of ideas, opinions, experiences, and expectations. They do not pressure the other to be their EVERYTHING, rather accept what is offered as a gift and appreciate their partner for showing up consistently, supporting in their strengths and struggles, and allowing for safety and space in seasons of uncertainty.

Often we can be drawn into the abyss of another, seeking acceptance, validation, and approval, among other things. Or quite possibly striving to create change in the other through accommodation, manipulation, or instigation. It is in these moments that we must reflect on the true heart of the connection. Are you working to COMPLEMENT your partner or are you CONSUMED by your relationship?

No two people are perfect, which means there will never be a perfect relationship. However, as you face each new moment together, approach your partner with curiosity, confidence, and commitment. Your goal is to complement one another’s strengths, create connection, and commit to supporting and strengthening each other.

You are meant to COMPLEMENT the person your partner is, not be CONSUMED by them.

In a world full of comparison, criticism, and calamity, may we offer kindness. Rather than highlighting the weaknesses in others, may we champion for one another. For in building up others we too are elevated. Our strengths increase and our weaknesses wane. Together we flourish and attain new levels of greatness we could never reach alone.

What is one kindness you may be able to offer today?

Show up for someone that may be struggling and support them in this season. You too may find yourself seeking solace in the kindness of others one day.

Losing a loved one, friend, peer, or classmate is both difficult and devastating. It can leave you confused, fearful, angry, uncertain, and deeply saddened by your loss and the change to your community. As someone who has been directly affected by tragic and sudden loss I can understand the flood of emotions that you may be experiencing. It can be so difficult to express how you may be feeling in light of all that has happened. This is truly a time to allow yourself to fully feel all that you are facing. Surround yourself with family, friends, and people who can support you as you walk through the loss of the one you loved and cared for.

If you find yourself struggling to connect to someone close by or just need someone else to talk with, process your loss, or pause with you as you allow yourself to face this devastating situation please reach out. I am here to support anyone who may be facing a difficult season.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, surrounded by the stress of your circumstances, your relationships, your responsibilities, your emotions, your goals then take a minute and read this again.

One thing at a time!

While we may be quick to argue that we can accomplish many things at once as long as we have a persistent will and a clear mind the truth is that you can truly only focus on one thing at a time. You can only successfully change one thing at a time. You can only expect yourself to tackle one thing at a time.

We are so quick to multitask, stacking our lists with endless obligations and expectations. It is important to remember that success is a series of small focused steps.

Lasting lifestyle change happens one step at a time.

Take a step back. Slow down. Prioritize. Take pride in small, but consistent changes. You cannot leap to the top of the mountain, you must move one step at a time, overcoming challenges as they arise.

What are you working to conquer today? Is it adding exercise to your daily routine, developing a healthier diet, calming your anxious thoughts, setting boundaries in an unhealthy relationship, completing a long forgotten project, practicing patience in your parenting?

What is one thing you will do today to work toward the goal you are pursuing?
