Today, we want to give our thanks to Lisa Flaute, RN, one of our awesome nurses in the Mary Rutan Emergency Department and our most recent Cheers for Peers recipient. Lisa's team members that nominated her said, "Her knowledge and skills are an important asset to our team." Applications are now being accepted for the 2025-2026 Mary Rutan Foundation Community Wellness Grant program. Youth mental health and youth healthy living were selected as the focus areas for grant requests ranging from $500 to $5,000 during the 2025-2026 grant cycle.

Area schools and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are invited to apply now! Applications and all required documentation must be submitted by midnight on October 8,2025. The application may be accessed on the Mary Rutan Health website at https://foundation.maryrutan.org/grants-scholarships-loans/grant-application/ and must be submitted electronically.

We are proud to be supporters of the new weight room project at Indian Lake Schools! Yesterday, some of our team members stopped by to check out the awesome new space during the annual open house.

For years, our dedicated athletic trainer, Holly King, has been part of the Laker community, where she helps keep student athletes safe, strong, and healthy. This new weight room is another step toward providing students with the tools they need to succeed on and off the field, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.

We want to give congratulations to April Hairston and Rachel Hostetler, who both recently completed our Mary Rutan Health Medical Assistant Apprentice Program! After months of studying, hands-on clinical skill development, and exam completion, both April and Rachel are now both Certified Clinical Medical Assistants and we celebrated with a graduation ceremony today.

We know how important it is for our team members to continually advance their skills, and we are proud to be able to offer the in-house MA program to our employees that go above and beyond in their roles. Rachel and April's graduations were especially important to us as they were our inaugural group of MA apprentices, and they were able to help us fine-tune this important program.

We greatly appreciate your dedication to your careers and to the health and wellness of our community. Congratulations, April and Rachel!

What happens when a hospital has been part of a community for more than 105 years? Well, you start to collect a few breadcrumbs of history here and there! 🏥

Today, if you look at Mary Rutan Hospital from E. Palmer Road, you can still see the remnants of our former entrance, compared to the top photo, taken around the time that entrance opened in 1962. This entryway, which is no longer in service, faced Palmer Road and helped modernize the Hospital. At the same time this entrance was opened, a new west wing was also unveiled, which provided room for more beds and a gift shop for the Mary Rutan Volunteer Guild.

Much has changed in the more than 60 years since we opened those new entry doors and the new west wing of the hospital. We are so thankful to this wonderful community for allowing us to call this place home for so long! Here's to making history in Logan County for years to come! 🧡💙

We know no one wants to think about summer winding to a close, but one of the best ways to set your child up for a good school start is to reset their bedtime before school begins. Over the summer, it's easy for sleep schedules to drift later. To get back on track, the Sleep Foundation recommends moving bedtime and wake-up time earlier by 15 minutes each day.
