When she first came to us, she had hip and back pain that just wouldn’t quit.

She had already done the traditional PT route… but with no real change in pain or care.

✅ Couldn’t get through more than 5 sit-to-stands without pain and weakness.
✅ Shuffled her feet while walking. 🚩🚩🚩
✅ Frustrated. Discouraged. Stuck.

Fast forward to this week —
She crushed 11 sit-to-stands in 30 seconds, pain-free.
Above average for her age group. 🎉
Deadlifted a 36-pound kettlebell for reps. And went for (2) 30-minute walks pain-free!

Here are 5 key pillars to consider when you're injured that will significantly improve healing and recovery—whether you're a CrossFit athlete, hockey player, or just trying to stay active:

1. Load Management
Why it matters: Giving tissues time to recover without going completely inactive is key. Too much rest delays healing, but too much stress re-aggravates the injury.

What to do: Modify, don’t stop. Scale movements, decrease volume/intensity, and progressively reload based on pain and function.

2. Nutrition & Hydration
Why it matters: Your body needs the right building blocks to repair tissue. Inflammation control and collagen synthesis depend on proper nutrients.

What to focus on:

Protein: Prioritize lean, quality protein.

Anti-inflammatories: Omega-3s, colorful fruits/veggies.

Hydration: Keeps tissues pliable and aids nutrient transport.

3. Sleep & Recovery
Why it matters: Tissue regeneration and hormone regulation (like growth hormone) peak during quality sleep.

Goal: 7–9 hours of consistent, quality sleep. Avoid excessive caffeine or blue light at night. Naps can help too!

4. Active Rehab & Mobility
Why it matters: . Guided mobility and strength work reduce stiffness, restore range of motion, and retrain neuromuscular patterns.

Best approach: Follow a progressive rehab plan. Include mobility drills, stability work, and strengthening to restore function—not just eliminate pain.

5. Mindset & Patience
Why it matters: Mental resilience plays a massive role in compliance and outcomes. Frustration and rushing back often lead to reinjury.

Tips:
- Celebrate small wins (pain-free movement, increased ROM).
- Stay engaged with your athletic identity(coach, learn, support teammates/friends).
- Trust the process—healing isn’t always linear.
