I am a birth doula, childbirth educator and mental health advocate! One unique thing about my doula practice is that I provide thorough childbirth and postpartum education for my doula clients so that they feel fully prepared for making decisions with their birth. We work together one on one to answer all of your questions and have thorough discussions so you are fully informed and empowered!

The most important thing you can do to prepare for a birth you feel AMAZING about is to get OKAY
with using your voice!

It may feel awkward at first, but practicing these phrases before you give birth can help you
communicate with your team more effectively AND help you have the birth of your dreams!

And if (when?) you forget what to say, don't worry- your doula's job is to help you find your voice,
advocate for your birth, and make sure you're feeling in control no matter what happens.

Laboring your way through? Here are some holistic pain management options to consider:

Breathing Techniques: Take slow, deep breaths to help manage contractions and keep your mind focused. Inhale strength, exhale tension.

Massage & Counterpressure: A gentle touch from a partner or doula can work wonders. Try back rubs, hip squeezes, or pressure on your lower back.

Position Changes: Move around! Different positions can ease discomfort and help baby navigate the birth canal.

Warm Compresses: A warm, soothing compress on your lower back or abdomen can offer relief and relaxation.

Visualizations & Affirmations: Channel your inner strength by visualizing a calm place or using positive affirmations to stay centered.

Water Therapy: Warm baths or showers can help relax your muscles and provide a comforting environment.

You’re going to want this list for your hospital bag!

Labor & Postpartum Must-Haves: Don't forget comfy clothes, socks, and slippers for pacing the hallways during labor. Pack toiletries, lip balm, and hair ties to keep you feeling fresh.

Important Documents: Remember your ID, insurance card, birth plan, and any medical records. Having these ready will help streamline the check-in process.

Entertainment & Distraction: Bring your favorite book, playlist, or even a puzzle. Labor can take time, and having something to pass the time can help you relax.

Snacks & Hydration: Pack your favorite non-perishable snacks and a refillable water bottle. Staying nourished and hydrated is essential.

Comfort Items: A pillow from home, a cozy blanket, and your own pillowcase can add a touch of comfort to your hospital stay.

Baby Essentials: Don't forget baby's first outfit, swaddles, and a going-home outfit. Also, have the car seat ready for the journey home!
