The not so glamorous side of farming. The cow water trough gets so nasty no matter where it sits. They have terrible manners and drink with food in their mouths and leave it behind. Then the algae grows. If hanging by your waist in a tiny pond that stinks doesn’t sound like fun to you, I don’t recommend cattle. Plus they are ungrateful and won’t let you finish the job before they start demanding they need a drink.

It would be great if my copilot would get a gate or drive the side by side through while I get the gate so we aren’t fighting to keep animals in but he refuses to be anything but a passenger prince.

The pigs are some of my favorite animals. They’re social and smart. Sadly we don’t have a piglet litter this summer like we usually do. I didn’t AI the gals and waited to see if Hampton could do the job. He didn’t but it wasn’t for lack of trying. He will be heading into his bachelor pad until next time. In November I’ll AI the gals for early spring piglets.

The chicken thief identity was no mystery. Climbing the door they left a single perfect handprint. After two failed trapping attempts, I managed to trap two in one night.
