We held another wonderful Teddy Bear Clinic at Roosevelt Elementary School! The 'littles' had a blast and learned so much!

The High School Students from Belleville West are amazing leaders and make this a fun learning experience for the 'littles!'

Today's Teddy Bear Clinic at Union Elementary School was the final one of this school year!

As always, it was magical and the 'littles' learned so much while having the best time!

AND, the students from Belleville West continue to impress me and give me so much hope for our future!

A big shout out to every student who has been a part of this year's Teddy Bear Team and to Lisa Krummrich Quandt for her endless support!

You all make our world so much better and I am beyond proud to know you!

Belleville West High School's CFA Leadership Academy in partnership with St. Clair County Health Department is hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic Saturday, March 22 from 9 am to 12:30 pm for kids age 4 and up.

If you have time and are anywhere near the Fairview Heights library, stop by to say hello!

I have a few sharps disposal containers for residents of St Clair County, Covid tests, and Narcan kits! All of these are free.

And, I’d be happy to give you a little brief education about using Narcan as well.

Another two days of successful Teddy Bear Clinics are in the books. The pre-school kids from Belle Valley learned about healthy eating, proper hand washing, the importance of vaccines, and good oral health from the amazing student council members from District 201 “Tell Me Something Good”

We had a great start to this school year with two Teddy Bear Clinics at Ellis Elementary School!

Student Council members from Belleville Township High School West (District 201 “Tell Me Something Good”) were amazing leaders as they taught the 'littles' about proper handwashing, good oral health, the importance of vaccines, and healthy eating!

Using data from CDC’s State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS), investigators examined characteristics of people who died of a drug overdose in 2022 and had any reported mental health disorder (MHD) in 44 jurisdictions. In the analysis, more than 1 in 5 people who died of a drug overdose had a reported Mental Health Disorder. The most frequently reported MHDs were depressive (13%), anxiety (9%), and bipolar (6%) disorders.

As we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) 2024, we reflect upon the impact overdose has had on our communities—remembering those we have lost and empowering each other to work together to prevent future overdoses. Decreasing stigma and other barriers to seeking and receiving care for all MHDs, including substance use disorders (SUDs), could save lives and improve mental health.

You need vaccines throughout your life
Adults need to keep their vaccinations up to date because immunity from childhood vaccines can wear off over time. You are also at risk for different diseases as an adult. Vaccination is one of the most convenient and safest preventive care measures available.
