September is National Recovery Month. We join our RWJBarnabas Health Institute for Prevention & Recovery team in recognizing all who have been impacted by substance use disorder and offering help for anyone on their recovery journey and their loved ones who support them.

This year we’re encouraging everyone to be a hero and carry naloxone. This lifesaving, opioid overdose-reversal medication, provides individuals the opportunity to receive emergency care and recovery support. In this way, naloxone helps open a window to recovery and provides hope to individuals, their families, and communities.

Clara Maass Medical Center is thrilled to unveil The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey 128-Slice CT Scanner Room, named in honor of the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey (HFNJ), whose generous support of $1,001,767 enabled the purchase of the 128-Slice CT scanner, a game-changer for patient care, diagnostics and treatment planning.

The 128-slice CT scanner is an advanced medical imaging machine that creates detailed imaging with high resolution quickly, safely and with clarity. The imaging technology allows for faster scans and clearer images using low dose radiation.

The Healthcare Foundation of NJ has provided transformative support to Clara Maass Medical Center. Since 1999, HFNJ has provided nearly $5.3 million in grant awards to the medical center to fund various projects, including grants for cutting-edge equipment, advanced technology, capital improvement, and clinical programs.

Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation recently hosted the Clara Maass School of Nursing Alumni and welcomed 26 graduates back to the CMMC campus. Nurses from Chicago, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey attended this event. The nurses toured the Medical Center and enjoyed a program that included presentations by hospital leadership. The visit concluded with a luncheon and Q & A session with Thomas Burke, BPharm, MBA, Chief Administrative Officer. The nurses were thrilled to learn about RWJBH system initiatives, including the Institute for Nursing Excellence, and the new cutting-edge equipment and advanced technology at Clara Maass Medical Center.
