Nicole J. joined our team at Community Medical Center in 1995, as an Emergency Room tech, per diem, to gain practical experience as she worked toward her college degree. She earned her degree in nursing and stayed with us, working her way through the ranks in nursing at the hospital. Today she’s Administrative Director of the hospital's Emergency Department. With profound appreciation for her zest, her compassion and her 30 years (and counting!) with the RWJBarnabas Health family, Mark Manigan, our President and CEO recently connected with Nicole to learn more about her journey. RWJBarnabas Health joins the CDC in recognizing Antibiotic Awareness Week. Antibiotic resistance is one of the most urgent global threats to public health. Improving the way health care professionals prescribe antibiotics and improving the way patients take antibiotics helps keep us all healthy, fight antibiotic resistance and ensures that these life-saving drugs will be available for future generations. Clara Maass Medical Center is proud to once again sponsor the upcoming Montclair Bikery Turkey Ride benefitting the Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, New Jersey— a wonderful community tradition that brings cyclists together to support local families in need during the holiday season.

This week, members of our senior leadership team had the privilege of visiting the Human Needs Food Pantry to gain deeper insight into the vital work being done to address food insecurity in our community and to reaffirm our commitment to supporting those facing food insecurity.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations and events that strengthen the wellbeing of our neighbors. Together, we’re not just promoting health and wellness — we’re spreading compassion, one mile at a time.

As the nation faces disruptions to federal food assistance benefits, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), RWJBarnabas Health today reaffirmed our ongoing commitment to combatting food insecurity in New Jersey by providing $1M to support 14 local feeding organizations serving vulnerable communities across the state. For our health system, this is not simply a reaction to a moment of crisis, but a continuation of nearly two decades of intentional investment and partnership to ensure that residents have reliable access to nutritious food – today and for the long term. Our incredible team got into the Halloween spirit with our annual Employee Pumpkin Decorating Contest— and wow, the creativity was scary good! Congratulations to our Radiation Oncology team for taking 1st place with their Dunkin Donuts-themed pumpkin presentation; the Safe House for taking 2nd place and Radiology for taking 3rd!
