Throughout history, women in business have faced restricted access to credit, legal barriers to property ownership, and limited opportunities for formal education.
Until the 1970s in the United States, women often needed a male co-signer to obtain a business loan. Ownership rights and financial independence were not easily granted.
Despite those barriers, women built companies anyway. They created home-based enterprises. They formed cooperatives. They innovated quietly — and then loudly.
According to research from organizations like the National Women's Business Council, women-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing segments of entrepreneurship today.
Progress didn’t happen overnight. It happened because women refused to sit out. This month, we honor the history — and we keep building forward.
