Noticed how often we’re glued to our screens?
It’s an easy trap for teens and, yes, us adults too. While technology connects us to the world, it can also disconnect us from the moment and the people right beside us. If your screen time is creeping up higher than you’d like, it might be time for a little digital reflection. 🍃
For parents, this is our cue to step in with empathy and support, not criticism. Here’s how we can help:
1. Model balance: Demonstrate a healthy tech-life balance to inspire your teens.
2. Establish device-free moments: Make meal times, family gatherings, or certain hours of the day screen-free.
3. Promote offline activities: Encourage interests and hobbies that don’t require a WiFi connection, from sports to art.
4. Start a dialogue: Have open discussions about the effects of too much screen time and the importance of real-world connections.
5. Agree on screen limits: Collaboratively decide on reasonable screen time boundaries and stick to them together.
Technology is meant to be a tool, not a replacement for real-life experiences and connections. Let’s use it with intention and keep our real-world connections strong. 💕
