This 31 year old male patient came to us for a 4,225 graft hybrid FUT/FUE procedure to address the front half of the scalp. In addition to the surgery, we approached the vertex scalp non-surgically through medications (off label oral minoxidil) and PRFM (off label)!⁠

This patient responded well to both surgical and non-surgical treatment and is now in a position to decide if they want further surgeries down the line to address the vertex scalp or if they are happy with this result!⁠

Most people ease up on sunscreen during the winter, especially in the PNW when it feels like the sun doesn’t come out for months. But that is when UV damage can sneak in and add up!⁠

UVA rays remain more consistent year round and can still pe*****te the skin even on cloudy, cold days. This ongoing exposure contributes to premature aging, pigmentation, and collagen breakdown over time. Daily sunscreen remains your first line of defense, no matter the season.⁠

UV rays are a form of radiation from the sun that affect the skin every day, even when the sun is not visible. They can pass through clouds and glass, meaning exposure happens more often than most people realize. Over time, repeated exposure leads to cumulative skin damage that shows up as aging, discoloration, and loss of skin strength.⁠

UVA rays are a specific type of UV radiation that pe*****te deeper into the skin than UVB rays. They are responsible for long term skin aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, and collagen breakdown, and their intensity stays more consistent throughout the year. UVB rays primarily affect the more superficial layer of the skin. UVB exposure can be more intense in the summer, but even in the winter there is significant UVB exposure. Both types cause skin damage in different ways, which is why broad spectrum sunscreen is essential daily.
