Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite 😩😱

I almost had you there 😉
Love,
Dr SPF

With all the misinformation out there on the internet, I shall repeat: 📢 Sunscreen helps prevent UV radiation induced damage to our skin that can lead to skin cancer and photoaging of the skin (discoloration, wrinkles, crepiness and easy bruising).

I am also a fan of sun protective clothing with UPF fabric. 😎🤙

Stop wasting your money on the wrong retinoid! Here’s the ultimate Retinoid Showdown in 90 seconds ⚡where I explain the difference between retinol, adapalene, and tretinoin — which one’s right for your skin? 💥

Don’t jump the gun and start on the “extras” too soon! Keep it simple as a teen (and affordable where more expensive does not mean better quality) and then slowly add in actives with time while always keeping your skincare goals in mind (never mindlessly buy into viral trends or hyped up lotions and potions)!
Products mentioned:
Teens-
💦 Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
🧴 Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream (body), CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion (face and body)
😎Vanicream Daily Moisturizer with SPF30

Mid 20s
🤩Retinol: Kiehl’s Retinol Fast Release serum, Neutrogena Retinol Regenerating Cream

Late 20s+
🍊Vitamin C serums: Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, SkinBetter Alto, Vichy LiftActiv, Cetaphil

30s+
💧 Hyaluronic acid serums: Real Barrier Aqua, Vichy Mineral 89, La Roche Posay Hyalu B5
💪Peptide moisturizer: Skinfix, The Inkey List, Cetaphil

Hope this helps!🤙

Scars don’t have to be permanent reminders — if you treat them the right way from the start 💪

Here’s how I guide my patients (and what I personally do):1️⃣ Barrier repair first: I always start with petrolatum ointment immediately while the cut or injury/surgery is “fresh.” Then I will transition to a soothing barrier balm like La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5 to calm inflammation and keep the area hydrated.2️⃣ Then silicone therapy: Once the skin has healed over completely or when sutures are out, I switch to silicone gel or silicone sheets — gold-standard in dermatology for flattening and fading scars.3️⃣ Patience and consistency: Healing takes time. The key is staying consistent for weeks to months. Always wear your SPF 30+ during the day 😎

Whether it’s a pimple blemish, surgical scar, or a scrape from your kid’s latest adventure — the principles are the same: gentle care, protection, and science-backed ingredients. 🧴

📢 Real talk!! The two best things you can do for your skin:
1️⃣ SPF30+ 🧴 every day for all ages
👉non tinted sunscreen: Vanicream Facial Moisturizer SPF 30, Eucerin Sensitive Mineral SPF 50, CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 50
👉tinted options: EltaMD UV Elements SPF 44, DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46, Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 60
2️⃣use a retinoid at bedtime for those in their mid 20s and UP: so many options but never layer two different retinoids in one day!
👉prescription: tretinoin or tazarotene (evidence is strong for both)
👉over the counter: La Roche-Posay Retinol B3, CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum, SkinBetter AlphaRet

Be consistent to get results! 😎🤙

A few thoughts and tips on my day off in my gym clothes. When the creators are trying too hard to look the part as a healthcare professional, I will now be skeptical. There’s too much misinformation out there!

thank you for the question- keep the questions coming!

definitely easier said than done when it comes to avoiding scratching the heck out of your eczema 😢 but it’s important to try and find strategies to prevent the scratching! See your dermatologist to discuss ways to break the scratch-itch cycle 🙏💪
❌avoid scratching or scrubbing the rash as this will worsen it and increase risk of getting an infection (very common to see impetigo in eczema plaques)
❌avoid hot showers or using heat sources in attempts to dampen the itching sensation
❌scratching will perpetuate the scratch-itch cycle given the rewarding feeling we get when we scratch
✅use a moisturizer regularly and apply on to damp skin to try to lock in moisture (CeraVe, Aveeno and Cetaphil mentioned)

Let’s protect our lips at all costs especially since I am diagnosing skin cancer all the time in this delicate area!
