Hey folks just a quick note that our incoming phones are not working. We discovered that today. IT is working on it, but we do not have an ETA on diagnosis or repair at this time. You can use the MyChart portal and we can call out. Will keep you posted.

What better day then April Fools day to post some updates! no fooling though.
On eclipse day Monday the 8th we will be closed. many of the NOMS offices will be running short hours or closed also.

Now for the bigger news, and no I am not retiring.
Due to a variety of situations, I will be moving the office. We will be moving to the Clyde NOMS building.
We will work Monday 4/29. We will be closed 4/30, 5/1, and 5/2. We will still be able to get some portal messages in the morning of 4/30, and the afternoon of 5/2. probably be best to make sure you have everything you need prior to these three days.
There will be more information as we get close, just wanted to get this on everyone's radar.
As always thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and support.

Good morning!

I would like to thank everyone who has been tolerating me and praying for me this past year. It has been a long journey. I am thrilled to report I think I have turned the corner. I am more vibrant and engaged (which has to be better for my wonderful staff and wife). I am only having pain some days and it is no where near as intense. I have most of the motion back that I will be able to get back with all of the metal in my neck. another 5-11 months rehabilitation to get some muscle and strength back.

I just wanted to let everyone know, We will be closed for both Christmas and New Years holidays, and we will be closed the Tuesday after Christmas.

Thank you all again for your support and have a blessed holiday season

Hey folks, just a heads up.

First I am home and doing OK.

Unfortunately I can't say the same for the office. There is a major problem with IT right now. the office is non-functional. If you have an emergency please go to an urgent care or If it can't wait an ER. I was able to get on to the system remotely this morning for a bit and if you are needing something please try the MyChart and I will move these along to my staff in the morning

It's been a bit since I have posted, so I would like to get to some updates for everyone.

Many of you know that NOMS has converted to the EPIC electronic health record. This has been a trying time for staff and patients. I thank you for your patience. Please note we no longer use the HEALO app. we are on MyChart. This will also allow you to link to other hospitals and healthcare systems, and there are many of them, so your healthcare is all in one place. Personally I find it easier to use the internet instead of phone apps, I know I'm showing my age. If you are having problems certainly try nomshealthcare.com.

With Dr. Knight retiring there have been many changes. FTMC has taken over his practice and now owns the building. A shout out to Dr. Ross and his staff during this transition, they are a good group of people. Other than some cosmetic changes we are continuing on here in the office. On that note the front entryway is being re-built on September 13-15th. The building will be closed to patients. My staff will be here, but please realize that you cannot stop in to pick up or drop off anything. Also we will be getting a new parking lot! This will be done on September 28th and 29th. We will be open, but it will be congested with them milling off the parking lot on Thursday and repaving on Friday.

As for me, most of you know my neck has not been doing well. My surgery has been accelerated and scheduled for 9/11. I will be out for 2 weeks and then back part time for another 2 weeks. I have faith that after healing I will get back to my old self, and no I do not plan on retiring soon. As before my staff will be here to take care of everyone. I do have my personal physician as backup if the staff is unable to help you. I think we have reached out to everyone and rescheduled. If you know you are going to be in need during these 2 weeks please reach out Tuesday so we can try to accommodate your needs.

As always I am humbled by your trust in my staff and me, and for the supportive thoughts and prayers for Glenna and I.

God Bless

Ed

Hi folks, It's been 1 week and thought I would give you an update

Well I made it thru the surgery even though I did not behave and had some extra bleeding and turned a 2 hour surgery into an almost 4 hour surgery, But Dr Shall got me thru it intact.

Also misbehaved after I got back to my post op room and got my blood pressure down to about 74/32. but again thanks to the great team at Brainard surgery center, they got me back.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Glenna and I and thank you Glenna for all of the post op care at home.

as always, thank you for entrusting us with your health care.

Hello and hope you are all doing well, at least we are getting some sunshine today.

Many of you know I have chronic problems with my neck and have been struggling for years to keep it functional. Well, there is nothing left to work with in there. So, I will be getting the first of 2 surgeries this Friday and will be out of commission for about 10 days. Then will return part time for a few days. My staff will be available. If you are anticipating any needs the following week while I am off, consider calling Monday so we may assist you.

Thank you all for your trust and support.

Ed

I found this article interesting. I think everything is accurate except I am not adverse to a moderate amount of coconut oil, especially if you are avoiding it in your diet. I put about 1 tsp of organic (and definitely get organic here) in my protein shake along with a tablespoon of olive oil. I do have a genetic lipid disorder. you could probably get away with less if just supplementing, but olive oil is certainly a good oil as it helps raise HDL(the good) cholesterol.

Coconut oil's health benefits are overblown, at best. Here are five healthy alternatives.
