“94 is just a number.”

At our sister community, Watersound Fountains, residents are proving that adventure doesn’t have an age limit. The ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) traded their usual outing for the fast lane, hitting the go-kart track and showing that fun, friendship, and a little friendly competition never go out of style.

From staying active to trying something new, it’s moments like these that remind us what community is all about. Who says you can’t feel like a kid again? 🏁

🌍🌱 Celebrating Earth Day Together 🌱🌍

We had a wonderful time celebrating Earth Day with our community as part of a Watermark University class led by Delphy, our Lead Community Life Associate. This hands‑on experience brought everyone together to learn, create, and connect with nature in a meaningful way.

As part of the celebration, we planted our very own succulents, getting our hands a little dirty while talking about growth, care, and sustainability. The atmosphere was filled with conversation, smiles, and creativity as everyone chose their plants and made them their own.

This Earth Day was a meaningful reminder that even small actions, like planting something new, can have a lasting impact. We loved sharing this moment together and taking home living symbols of growth, care, and community. 🌿✨

A Sweet Journey Through Mexico was hosted by Adriana, Resident Care Director, as part of her Watermark University class. Our community enjoyed a warm and engaging presentation exploring the traditions behind Mexican pan dulce and Chocolate Abuelita, and the special place these favorites hold in family celebrations and everyday life. The discussion sparked curiosity and conversation throughout, as everyone learned more about Mexico’s rich culture and heritage in a relaxed, welcoming setting. The experience concluded on a sweet note with a tasting of freshly baked pan dulce paired with rich, comforting hot chocolate.

We were so pleased to welcome magician Josh Farley as he made a stop on his tour to visit our community. His time with us brought an uplifting and engaging afternoon filled with laughter, amazement, and plenty of shared smiles. Residents and associates alike joined in on the fun as they experienced his magic up close, with moments of surprise that quickly turned into conversation, laughter, and connection throughout the room.

There’s something special about a day when the usual routine pauses and everyone comes together to enjoy something lighthearted. Moments like these add a sense of spontaneity and warmth to everyday life, and this visit was a perfect example of that. 🎩🪄

We enjoyed a memorable outing at Brim Coffee Shop, located inside one of Seattle’s most historic hotels, known for its rich legacy and as a place where The Beatles once stayed during their time in the city.

Blending local history with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Brim was the perfect setting for connection and conversation. Over burgers and fries, hot cocoa, and lattes, the group shared stories from childhood and reflected on their first experiences visiting coffee shops, sparking laughter and nostalgia throughout the afternoon.

A meaningful reminder of how special it is to gather, share stories, and experience Seattle’s history together.

🎨 Celebrating Women Through Creativity 🎨

This National Women’s Day, our residents from both Assisted Living and Independent Living came together to celebrate the strength, creativity, and resilience of women everywhere. Led by our Lead Concierge, Georgina, as part of her Watermark University class, each resident created a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by the bold, fearless spirit of Frida Kahlo.

The room was full of laughter, conversation, and vibrant colors as our community expressed themselves freely, connected with one another, and celebrated women’s creativity. Every masterpiece was as unique as the person who painted it.

✨ Honoring Adriana, Our 2025 Leader of the Year! ✨

Adriana, our Resident Care Director, is a true example of what it means to lead with heart. In her first full year in both her role and within our community, she has already made a lasting impact.

Adriana’s leadership is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: everyone matters. She creates an environment where her team feels supported, heard, and empowered to share ideas, building a culture rooted in collaboration and respect. She leads alongside her team, learning as she goes and valuing each person every step of the way.

Her passion for this work is deeply personal. Inspired by her grandmother’s experience in care, Adriana is committed to ensuring every resident is seen, heard, and cared for as an individual, not just part of a routine, but a person with a unique story. That commitment shows in the way she connects with residents and supports her team each day.

Even on the most challenging days, Adriana stays grounded in her purpose and brings that same sense of focus to those around her. She encourages future leaders to trust themselves and lean into the strengths that got them there.

Outside of work, Adriana enjoys painting, exploring museums and expos, building LEGO sets, and collecting vinyl records. She brings a contagious joy to those around her, especially when she sees others smiling.

We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, authenticity, and leadership Adriana brings to our community each day, and proud to celebrate her as our 2025 Leader of the Year. 💫

🌿 Happy Passover from The Watermark at Bellevue! 🌿

Our community came together for a meaningful and inclusive Seder Meal, guided by Rabbi Mirel and his wife Julie. Each table featured a beautifully arranged Seder plate, with explanations of every component and its significance, giving residents the opportunity to learn about the traditions behind the holiday.

The evening was filled with conversation, and connection as residents enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared buffet and explored the symbolism of Passover together. This educational and celebratory experience reminded us to embrace unity and share kindness throughout our community. 💛

Scammers are increasingly posing as government agencies to target older adults.

According to the National Council on Aging, criminals often pretend to be from the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, or Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to pressure people into sharing personal information or sending money.

🚩 Red flags include threats of arrest, urgent payment requests, or messages asking for your Medicare or Social Security number.

When in doubt: hang up, delete the message, and never share personal information.
