Everyone thinks you’re supposed to shave completely before laser… but that’s not always true.

At Caddell’s, our laser hair removal prep looks a little different. Instead of coming in completely smooth, we ask clients to leave about 1/16" of visible hair before their appointment.

Here’s why it matters:
✨ We can actually see the hairs react to the laser, which confirms the energy is reaching the follicle properly.
✨ As you progress through treatments (especially once you’re around 70% done), we shift to targeting only the remaining active hairs instead of treating the entire area.
✨ Visible growth allows us to monitor progress, like thinning, slower regrowth, and follicles that are no longer producing hair.

How to prep for your appointment:
🚫 Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading since the laser needs the hair follicle in place to work properly.
🪒 Shave the treatment area at least 24 hours before your session to give the skin time to calm.
🧴 Come to your appointment with clean skin and avoid lotions, oils, or self-tanner on the area.
☀️ Avoid direct sun exposure before treatment, as sun-irritated skin can be more sensitive.

IPL works by using light energy to target the blood vessels beneath the skin, helping calm redness and improve overall skin tone over time. Many people notice their skin looks more even and feels less reactive with treatment.
