Demonstrations for both muscles, to develope them, at this point, have just been demonstrated.
As I go along, you will be shown more detail, and more exercises for these muscles as well as other upper body muscles.

This muscle overlies the chest.
The pushup is the mainstay exercise for developing it.
Attachments of the pectoralis major muscle are:
Midline attachments:
sternum(breast bone) and some ribs, and the external abdominal oblique muscle
Arm attachments: the muscle extends outward to the arm and attaches to a front bony ridge on the upper arm.
Video attached is an isolated exercise of the pushup on medicine balls with feet wide. This was previously posted.

We are in the office daily. Dr. Guzy at one of her Wellness events in August.
Today I will be demonstrating a blindfolded plank, going into a side plank with a leg figure 4 included in the exercise.
Any plank is great for core conditioning, but it also includes upper body strength development.

Today I will be demonstrating an advanced form of the plank exercise. This exercise is the scissor plank.
Proper technique is vital to any exercise to get the most benefit for your body.
All planks are primarily done to develop your core muscles.

I have been concentrating on upper body exercises, including the pectoralis major muscle and the latissimus dorsi muscle.
Demonstrations for both muscles, to develope them, at this point, have just been demonstrated.

I will be taking a side road here, that is diverting from the latissimus dorsi muscle to a pushup.

Latissimus Dorsi Muscle
The following video depicts much more closely the function, attachments, and location of this muscle.
The Lat muscle makes the back broader.
It is seen at the sides of the back, running down to the low back on each side.
Prior posts have described it as well.

I will be concluding the description of the latissimus dorsi muscle in the next couple posts.
This muscle is a support for the spinal column and it is important to increase its muscle tone with a spinal injury, to improve posture, and with any shoulder injury.
The video attached demonstrates well, the location and exercise for this muscle. It was posted on a prior day as well.
Dr. Guzy
The latissimus dorsi muscle exercises have been demonstrated in various videos, today and in previous posts.
1. the videos can demonstrate the muscles movements and
maybe visualization of the muscle.
2. another exercise for this muscle the closer grip pull down.
Please see attached video.

I continue the review of the latissimus dorsi muscle with attached video.
a. various exercises isolate the development of this muscle.
b. it is the major muscle of the back
c. its major actions are bringing the arm toward the body, rotating the arm inward, and extending the arm backwards.
d. another exercise for this muscle is the sitting row, as demonstrated in the attached video.

In our continuation of the latissimus dorsi muscle:
Origin: upper part of the arm.
It extends downward on the back and attaches to the midline lower vertebra and even down to the upper part of the pelvis.
Function: turns the arm inward, extends the arm back, and can bring the arm inward to the body.
When well developed, this muscle gives the back a V shape.
Please also see prior video of main exercise for this muscle.
Dr. Guzy-Venick
Exercising is a key to good health.
Today is a brief review of the latissimus dorsi muscle, a main muscle of the back.
This is reviewed with the patient if is beneficial to the patient.
Please see attached video.
Dr. Guzy-Venick
On the agenda, on a weekly basis, I will be reviewing different muscles, there attachments on the body, and their functions.
Also, photos and/or videos of exercises to tone them, will be given to you.
First up will be the major back muscle, the Lat. muscle.
Next week will be details as described above.
Please stay tuned.
