Back in June, Steve Chappell (from our Fremont clinic) and Erin O’Neill (from our First Hill clinic) spent a weekend with the Institute of Clinical Excellence, learning from the incredible Jason Lunden and Aaron Castonguay. After an intensive course covering road, gravel, and mountain bike fitting, they are officially MTI’s newest certified Professional Bike Fitters! 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

That means you can now book Professional Bike Fits at our Fremont and First Hill locations, as well as our Issaquah location where Peter Carlson has been offering Bike Fits for many years. Whether you ride for performance, comfort, or adventure, we’ll help you get the most out of every mile.

Visit our website to learn more about how to schedule a Professional Bike Fit! https://mtipt.com/athletic-performance/bike-fitting/

Did you know that pain, healing, and function are not only related to physical impairments, but are also influenced by sleep, nutrition, and our emotional state? In this month's blog post, Brian Tuchscherer, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, who practices right here in our Kirkland clinic, elaborates on how you can get the most out of Physical Therapy by taking into consideration these other factors that contribute to healing. Check it out:

APRIL THERAPIST OF THE MONTH: Bridgett Bonte-Chun, PT, DPT

Bridgett has been with MTI Physical Therapy since 2012 and practices out of our Kirkland clinic. Here’s what Bridgett has shared about her specialties and interests:

“I thoroughly enjoy working with the diverse range of musculoskeletal patients at MTI Physical Therapy. The most rewarding part of my job is learning about people I work with and assisting them to achieve their physical therapy goals. I am so lucky to be able to spend a full hour with each patient, providing one-to-one personalized care. I find that the individual treatment approach works well for specific patient education and empowers patients to have the tools to continue to apply what they have learned in PT for the rest of their lives.

In January, I finished a residency course in manual therapy with the Ola Grimsby Institute and I find that the principles I learned about clinical diagnosis, tissue healing, and exercise prescription applies very well to each patient I work with. I appreciate the strong emphasis that MTI places on continuing education and research.

Outside of the clinic, you can find me spending time with my husband and friends, running with my dog Brinkley, or exploring the Pacific Northwest.”

It's been 11 days since the fatal mudslide in Oso and relief workers are still on site working hard to bring some closure to families. While there has been a huge community response with donations for the victims, all of the relief organizations are now saying that what they need most is money, which can be allocated as needed. MTI Physical Therapy just made a donation to the local American Red Cross to support the relief efforts in Oso. We invite you to join us in supporting this local community. To find out how you can help, visit http://www.redcross.org/news/article/Red-Cross-Helping-at-Scene-of-Tragic-Mudslide.

American Red Cross is helping people in the state of Washington impacted by the tragic weekend mudslide, providing support and comfort as they deal with this tragedy and wait for information about their loved ones.

Do you suffer from headaches? If so, you won't want to miss February's blog post written by Rett Nicolai, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, who practices out of our First Hill clinic. It's all about types and causes of headaches and how Physical Therapy can help! Check it out: http://mtipt.com/got-headaches/

None of us enjoy having a headache. But yet, many people suffer from them daily. In the general population, headaches have a reported prevalence of 16%, where 5% of adults experience them on a daily basis (Castillo et al, 1999).…Read more ›

We did it! We collected enough food for Hopelink to make it to Round 2 of March Can Madness! Thank you everyone for your generous food donations - together, all of the companies participating in March Can Madness raised 3,892 lbs of food and $818! We are up against JJ Mahoney's Irish Pub this week, so we really need to step it up! Please continue to bring in your donations to any of our clinics (except for our WAC clinic.) Thank you for helping out our community and helping us continue to advance! Please share with your friends and ask them to drop off their donations at our clinics as well! Together, we can make a difference! Have a great weekend everyone!

FEBRUARY THERAPIST OF THE MONTH: Erin Patterson, PT, DPT, COMPT

Erin has been with MTI Physical Therapy since 2010 and practices out of our Bellevue clinic. Here’s what Erin has shared about her specialties and interests:

“I have always loved sports and living an active lifestyle so being a Physical Therapist always seemed like the natural choice for a career. Every day, I have the privilege of learning about each one of my patient’s lives and being able to develop individualized treatment plans to assist them in attaining their physical goals.

I am committed to my patients’ success and fully believe that spending the one-on-one time to provide education regarding the rehabilitation process, their injury and exercise program allows them to return to their hobbies, sports and recreational activities quicker and with greater success. My mission as a Physical Therapist is to empower my patients to achieve their goals and have a great understanding of their own injury and rehab process.

In my spare time, you can find me running Greenlake with my golden retriever, cycling, baking and spending time with my husband. “
