Did you know that pain, healing, and function are not only related to physical impairments, but are also influenced by sleep, nutrition, and our emotional state? In this month's blog post, Brian Tuchscherer, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, who practices right here in our Kirkland clinic, elaborates on how you can get the most out of Physical Therapy by taking into consideration these other factors that contribute to healing. APRIL THERAPIST OF THE MONTH: Bridgett Bonte-Chun, PT, DPT

Bridgett has been with MTI Physical Therapy since 2012 and practices out of our Kirkland clinic. Here’s what Bridgett has shared about her specialties and interests:

“I thoroughly enjoy working with the diverse range of musculoskeletal patients at MTI Physical Therapy. The most rewarding part of my job is learning about people I work with and assisting them to achieve their physical therapy goals. I am so lucky to be able to spend a full hour with each patient, providing one-to-one personalized care. I find that the individual treatment approach works well for specific patient education and empowers patients to have the tools to continue to apply what they have learned in PT for the rest of their lives.

In January, I finished a residency course in manual therapy with the Ola Grimsby Institute and I find that the principles I learned about clinical diagnosis, tissue healing, and exercise prescription applies very well to each patient I work with. I appreciate the strong emphasis that MTI places on continuing education and research.

Outside of the clinic, you can find me spending time with my husband and friends, running with my dog Brinkley, or exploring the Pacific Northwest.”

It's been 11 days since the fatal mudslide in Oso and relief workers are still on site working hard to bring some closure to families. While there has been a huge community response with donations for the victims, all of the relief organizations are now saying that what they need most is money, which can be allocated as needed. MTI Physical Therapy just made a donation to the local American Red Cross to support the relief efforts in Oso. We invite you to join us in supporting this local community. To find out how you can help, visit http://www.redcross.org/news/article/Red-Cross-Helping-at-Scene-of-Tragic-Mudslide.

American Red Cross is helping people in the state of Washington impacted by the tragic weekend mudslide, providing support and comfort as they deal with this tragedy and wait for information about their loved ones.

Thank you all for your donations and support of MTI Physical Therapy's participation in Hopelink's March Can Madness. Although we didn't advance to week 3, we did collect a total of 210 lbs of food for Hopelink in 2 weeks! We will keep the collection bins up in our clinics until the end of March, so please continue to drop off your donations to help those in need in our community!

Do you suffer from headaches? If so, you won't want to miss February's blog post written by Rett Nicolai, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, who practices out of our First Hill clinic. It's all about types and causes of headaches and how Physical Therapy can help! Check it out: http://mtipt.com/got-headaches/

None of us enjoy having a headache. But yet, many people suffer from them daily. In the general population, headaches have a reported prevalence of 16%, where 5% of adults experience them on a daily basis (Castillo et al, 1999).…Read more ›
