Jax, the unofficial therapy dog and chief morale officer of Visiting Angels, loved Thursdays. Thursdays meant training day, and while the humans were busy learning important things, Jax had the run of the place. This particular Thursday, with only one new caregiver to train, things were a little quieter than usual.
He trotted into the training room, his ears perked, expecting to see a bustling scene. Instead, he found only "Mr. Dummy," the practice patient, lying patiently in bed. Mr. Dummy, with his perpetually cool sunglasses, always looked like he was ready for a beach vacation, even when being used for bed sit to stand practice.
Jax, ever the companion, decided Mr. Dummy looked a little lonely. With a hopeful little hop, he managed to get onto the bed. He settled himself comfortably on the colorful striped blanket, right beside Mr. Dummy. "Don't worry, pal," Jax seemed to say with a soft gaze, "I'll keep you company until the real training starts. And maybe, just maybe, I'll teach you a thing or two about getting belly rubs." He gave a contented sigh, ready for his important role as self appointed comfort dog and silent observer.
