This Black History Month, our community had the incredible honor of welcoming a distinguished professor from Massachusetts Institute of Technology to speak with residents at Solista Bellevue Retirement Community about the rich and powerful history of Black film.
From the early pioneers who broke barriers in silent cinema to the groundbreaking directors, actors, and storytellers shaping Hollywood today, the seminar explored how Black filmmakers have influenced culture, challenged narratives, and created lasting impact on the film industry. 🎬
Residents enjoyed a thoughtful discussion filled with film clips, historical insights, and meaningful conversation about representation, resilience, and artistic innovation. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect, learn, and celebrate the voices that have shaped cinematic history.
At Solista Bellevue, lifelong learning is at the heart of what we do — and events like this remind us how powerful storytelling can be in bringing people together.
