Let this day be a reminder to check in with yourself and with those around you. Every conversation, every moment of empathy, and every act of care brings us closer to a world where mental health is supported and celebrated.

Over this past weekend, THIRA Health joined the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP) and our local community at Chambers Bay for the Out of the Darkness Su***de Awareness & Prevention Walk.
Standing together with survivors, families, and advocates, we walked to honor lives lost, support those struggling, and bring light to the conversation around su***de prevention.
We are grateful for every conversation at our booth and every step taken in solidarity. Together, we foster hope, healing, and connection.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was first developed to treat borderline personality disorder—but today, it’s helping people everywhere manage depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, and more. By building skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, DBT offers tools for lasting change.

The Story of THIRA

In 1991, Dr. Moore founded The Moore Center (now Eating Recovery Center of Washington), the longest-established treatment center specializing in eating disorder treatment in the Pacific Northwest. In her many years of clinical experience she has worked with patients dealing with a wide variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and substance abuse, among others. These accomplishments are what has lead her to open THIRA Health. THIRA Health’s mission is to help adolescents and women work through traumatic life experiences and learn new coping skills. Soon after opening our doors Dr. Moore brought on Dr. Kathryn Korslund, as our Clinical Director. Having worked under Dr. Marsha Linehan during the development of DBT, Dr. Korslund has brought that expertise to THIRA, and has been a vital force in tailoring THIRA’s IOP and PHP programs following Dr. Linehan’s DBT guidelines. DBT has been proven to be an effective treatment for a wide variety of mental illnesses including but not limited to borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
