ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE RETINOIDS! Growth factors and retinoids for the win šŸ†

Retinoids can stimulate the production of EGF and its specific ligands, such as heparin-binding EGF and amphiregulin, which promote epidermal cell growth and proliferation.

Retinoids can reduce the expression of VEGF by keratinocytes, which may play a role in conditions like rosacea by affecting blood vessel growth.

Retinoids and topical growth factors can work together to enhance skin health. For instance, growth factors can stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture, while retinoids boost cell turnover and collagen synthesis.

My favorite retinoid is Alpharet by and for growth factors! Both available on my online store, link in bio šŸ”—

If you’ve been in the aesthetics industry for a bit you definitely know ! She has helped so many esthetician’s and has always positively contributed to this industry! She is the strongest person I know and my best friend. It breaks my heart that I’m writing this post right now. The other night she suddenly lost her husband, best friend, and soulmate! Troy was the best husband and father, he was so involved and so supportive of Brittany always! They have 6 beautiful kids together and they were his world!

Brittany is the kindest, most generous person I know. She gives everything to her family and friends! As she navigated this difficult time the last thing she needs to worry about is money!

I started a gofundme for her and her family, I will link it in my bio and stories! Please share and give if you can! Anything helps!

Please respect Brittany and her family at this time, while they mourn the loss of her husband and their dad ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

🧓The skin barrier is the unsung hero of your skincare routine, yet it plays a pivotal role in almost every skin concern. Whether you’re struggling with acne, dryness, redness, or sensitive skin, a compromised skin barrier might be at the root of it all.

šŸ”‘ Your skin’s barrier is the outermost layer of your epidermis, It’s a lipid-rich layer made up of fatty acids, ceramides, & cholesterol, which acts as a protective shield for your skin. Think of it as your skin’s ā€œbodyguard,ā€ The barrier helps regulate the exchange of water, preventing excessive moisture loss & protects your skin from pollutants, bacteria, & environmental damage.

āš ļø Studies show that when this barrier is damaged, it directly contributes to conditions like acne, eczema, rosacea, & even premature aging. Here’s why:
1. When the barrier is compromised, your skin becomes more vulnerable to irritants, allergens, & even skincare ingredients that would normally be fine.
2. The barrier’s main job is to lock in moisture. When it’s disrupted, skin becomes dehydrated, flaky, & often feels tight or rough to the touch.
3. Research has shown that a damaged skin barrier leads to a weakened defense against acne-causing bacteria. Plus, moisture loss can trigger an overproduction of sebum, which clogs pores & leads to pimples.
4. Chronic barrier dysfunction can cause the skin to age faster. In fact, skin with a weakened barrier shows more fine lines & wrinkles over time due to the lack of hydration & protection.

šŸ’” How to strengthen your skin barrier?
1. Use ingredients that help restore moisture & rebuild the lipid barrier. These help to ā€œfill inā€ the cracks, keeping moisture in & environmental stressors out.
2. Over-exfoliating your skin can strip it of essential oils & disrupt your barrier.
3. Opt for a pH-balanced, hydrating cleanser to maintain balance.
4. UV rays are a major culprit in damaging the skin barrier. Chronic UV exposure leads to weakened skin structure & even DNA damage.

šŸ”„ When your skin barrier is functioning well, everything falls into place—less irritation, less dryness, fewer breakouts, & a stronger defense against environmental factors. It’s the cornerstone of good skin health!

EVERYONE NEEDS A VITAMIN C SERUM! šŸŠIt acts as a cofactor for enzymes that convert amino acids into the building blocks of collagen. Without sufficient Vitamin C, the body cannot effectively produce stable & strong collagen, impacting skin structure & wound healing

Vitamin C is a normal skin constituent that is found at high levels in both the dermis & epidermis. Aging, however, causes a decline in vitamin C content in both the epidermis & dermis. Excessive exposures to UV light or pollutants (e.g., cigarette smoke & ozone) may also lower vitamin C content, primarily in the epidermis.

Vitamin C limits the damage induced by ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. Vitamin C is not a ā€œsunscreenā€ because it does not absorb light in the UVA or UVB spectrum. Rather, the antioxidant activity of vitamin C protects against UV-induced damage caused by free radicals. UV light decreases vitamin C content of skin, an effect that is dependent on the intensity & duration of UV exposure.

In addition to its antioxidant functions, vitamin C regulates the synthesis of the structural protein collagen. The role of vitamin C in the hydroxylation of collagen molecules is well characterized. Hydroxylation of collagen is necessary for its extracellular stability & support of the epidermis.

Vitamin C has been shown to stabilize collagen mRNA, thus increasing collagen protein synthesis for repair of the damaged skin. This occurs concurrently with a decrease in elastin production; the elastin protein is often overproduced in response to photodamage. Vitamin C also increases the proliferation rate of fibroblasts, a capacity that is decreased with age. Further, vitamin C stimulates DNA repair in cultured fibroblasts.

Topical vitamin C has also been shown to reverse some of the age-related structural changes in the interface between the dermis & the epidermis.

Vitamin C is an essential part of skin health both as an antioxidant and as a critical factor for collagen synthesis. Vitamin C contributes to photoprotection, decreases photodamage, & is needed for adequate wound healing.

Let’s get into it—loose powder SPF might seem like a quick, convenient way to protect your skin, but here’s why it just doesn’t cut it when it comes to real sun protection:

šŸ‘‰šŸ¼ How Much SPF Do You Really Need?
According to FDA guidelines, to get the full SPF protection listed on the bottle, you need to apply a generous amount—about 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen to your face. If you’re using a loose powder SPF, that’s roughly the equivalent of 5-6 full brush applications. Yes, you read that right. 5-6 layers. Think about it: Are you really applying that much powder to your face every 2 hours? Spoiler alert: most people aren’t. šŸ‘€ Also the loose powder may not be even landing on your face, it scatters…

You would look insane with that much powder on your face! 🤣

šŸ’„ The SPF you think you’re getting vs what you’re actually getting might feel like it’s doing the job, but the reality is, most people aren’t applying nearly enough to meet the required coverage. Even if you apply powder generously, it’s likely you’re only getting a fraction of the SPF protection advertised—definitely not the full SPF 30 or SPF 50 listed on the product.

🤫 I too used to use them because they were convenient and I thought I was getting the protection I needed! But after seeing a post from and learning the true science, I changed no longer used or recommended to clients!

šŸŽÆ Bottom Line
Loose powder SPF can feel like a good option for a quick fix or for touch-ups throughout the day, but it’s not going to provide the consistent, reliable protection your skin needs to stay safe from UV damage.

If you want something convenient I HIGHLY recommend compact! I personally love the sheer version!

The sun causes cancer, the sun contributes highly to aging! Wear your spf forehead to nips and whatever’s left on the back of ur hands! Thank me later šŸ™ŒšŸ»šŸ’• The sun is responsible for 80% hours of aging! While we need the sun, we need to do so responsibly! Just like most things, the dose makes the poison!

HONORED TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST SPEAKERS !!!! I gave two lectures on combining dual modalities and elevating consultations! Now that I’ve spoken at around 15 events, I’m finally feeling so at ease up on stage! Before I was terrified and anxious and hated public speaking! However I wanted to do it so I pushed myself! I aspire to be as charismatic as up on stage lol! Thank you to the events/companies that have let me speak for them SCIN Seminar, , , , , and now ! Can’t wait to do even more!

It was a beautifully put together event and it was also a lot of fun! I finally got to meet in real life! It was so fun learning from them and listening to them, and picking up their pearls of wisdom! Thank you to everyone who came to my lectures, it means the world to me that you actually want to listen to me and take my advice lol šŸ˜

It was so great meeting everybody and I can’t wait to see you back next year, it will be even bigger and better!

This is why I love microneedling! It works! I always put all of my clients on vitamin A & C to enhance results! Stimulating that much collagen and elastin is just amazing! 🤯🤯🤯

In studies using vitamin A and C during the course of treatments enhanced results by 150% 🤯🤯🤯 I want everyone to get the most out of treatments so anything I suggest is to get you the best results! My typical go to’s are AlphaRet and Alto (all versions) by - link in bio to order!

ā€œJuvenile collagen I showed itself up-regulated in all groups, while collagen III was down-regulated. Singular and repetitive PCI with a microneedling device can achieve and supersede the results already shown with medical needling.ā€
