The Woman's Club of Bellflower accepted the City of Bellflower’s Proclamation for the Women’s History month and provided a short presentation of our club history. We started with the beginnings of GFWC in 1890 with our leader Jane Cunningham Crowley, a writer, being denied entry to a Charles Dickens speaking engagement because she was a woman. She didn't get mad, she got busy and formed the General Federation of Woman's Clubs. We provided photos of the original clubhouse when the Woman's Club acquired it with the help of Frank Woodruff in the 1930's (AI enhanced by Peter Enkhorn and son Peter), also photos of the clubhouse after major renovations after many fundraising events and hard work. Our final photo is how the building looks today. Our final pictures were of the many members most likely in the late 50's and our clubhouse members pictured celebrating the 100th year of formation in 2021.

Choosing a Word of the Year is a simple yet powerful way to set intention for the months ahead. One meaningful word can serve as a guide—shaping decisions, inspiring growth, and grounding you during both challenges and celebrations. Whether your word reflects courage, joy, balance, service, or growth, let it be a gentle reminder of who you want to be and how you want to show up this year. Share your word and inspire others to choose theirs, too.
