The Woman's Club of Bellflower accepted the City of Bellflower’s Proclamation for the Women’s History month and provided a short presentation of our club history. We started with the beginnings of GFWC in 1890 with our leader Jane Cunningham Crowley, a writer, being denied entry to a Charles Dickens speaking engagement because she was a woman. She didn't get mad, she got busy and formed the General Federation of Woman's Clubs. We provided photos of the original clubhouse when the Woman's Club acquired it with the help of Frank Woodruff in the 1930's (AI enhanced by Peter Enkhorn and son Peter), also photos of the clubhouse after major renovations after many fundraising events and hard work. Our final photo is how the building looks today. Our final pictures were of the many members most likely in the late 50's and our clubhouse members pictured celebrating the 100th year of formation in 2021.
