Dear students of Linda's T'ai Chi and followers of my posts,
April is Parkinson's disease Awareness Month. With an estimated one million people in the US living with Parkinson’s disease, 17,000 of those live here in Washington, what are the treatment options? PD can’t be cured but symptoms can often be mitigated to some degree with medication, surgery and lifestyle changes.
Research suggests that exercise can be especially beneficial for PWP (Persons with Parkinson’s disease). These include boxing, pedaling, dancing, drumming, walking, and yoga to name a few.
Research on performing T’ai Chi on a regular basis suggests that this form of exercise is beneficial not only for temporary reduction in physical symptoms but beneficial for overall sense of wellbeing.
April is the month we take a moment to think about those living with PD, their loved ones and all of the researchers, and care providers who work every day to make the lives of PWP better with the hope of one day curing this disease.
Accessing care, exercise programs and social settings for support is thwarted as we all face the effects of social isolation due to the COVID-19 outbreak. For people living with PD and others who live with chronic illness, the impacts are felt deeply.
With peace and love
Linda

Some news! First, I hope this message finds you well and doing all that you can to be safe. These are difficult times filled with uncertainty and anxiety. Or , at least, that is how I feel most of the time. Tai Chi deep breathing helps.

I will be moving from using face book as a platform to share information about Tai Chi and about my work,

I direct you to my web page https://lindataichi.com

There you will find "Linda's Blog"
I will write about things that I think about and things that I find interesting and important to health and wellbeing from a Tai Chi point of view. Enrolled students have access to my videos and my weekly handouts.

So farewell, Face Book, hello Linda's Tai Chi web page

Be safe, and well, Invite calm and peace as often as you can.
Peace,
Linda
