Have you ever seen the look on someone's face when they get glasses for the first time (check out this cute baby trying on his glasses at our office)?

Or when they get their contact lenses in their eyes for the first time?

Have you stopped working elsewhere because there's not enough interaction with people, or there just wasn't enough room for you to display your skills and your ability to serve your customers?

Do you want to work in healthcare but find that some jobs seem to "medical" and "sterile"?

Is the modern healthcare office a bit boring and too restrictive by all kinds of regulations and box checking?

If you answered yes to some questions here and you think we are "speaking the same language" you might be a good fit with this job.

It's also a good career path.

It's not physically demanding and you'll never really be stuck working nights or weekends.

There's a sales aspect to it.

There's a science aspect to it.

And there's a fashion/aesthetics aspect to it.

People will respect and rely upon your expertise to see well and look good.

And you have to have a decent head for simple math...

How good?

You don't have to learn calculus again but quick adding and quick subtracting is a big part of it.

Let's give you a math problem right now to see how fast you'd catch on...

What is 2.50 minus 10.00?

If you answered -7.50 in your head quickly, you'll be able to figure this out.

In summary, we are an optometric practice in downtown Bellingham looking for a highly organized person who wants to learn how to help people with their vision but also with their eyewear.

What is a "Frame Stylist"?

This is the person who helps our patients find the perfect frame for their eyes, their face and then sits them down and finds the right lenses for their prescription.

Going further, you'll learn all about eyeglasses prescriptions and how to fix someone's frames and adjust them on their face to get them working and looking as intended.

There's a lot of freedom with this job to decide what you want - as long as it's best for the patient and best for the office.

Our goals are to treat our patients first and make sure we are doing what is best to help.

We're a small but tight knit office so there's a lot of room for you to make your own way. To create your own path and move around the office learning many jobs if you desire.

You will be asked to help with front desk duties such as scheduling, opening the office, closing the office and phone calls.

The job is part time or full time depending our schedule and will amount to about 32-40 hours per week max. Monday through Friday, from 9:45 am to a little after 6 pm. We take one hour lunch breaks from 1-2 pm.
