Farmwork is a dirty job, but we love doing it! Big thanks to the Whatcom Community Foundation's Health & Wellness grant for providing our team with a clothing stipend and Duluth Trading Company for keeping us stylin' and profilin' in these sweet overalls.

We are excited and proud to share that we will be continuing our partnership with the amazing team at for a third round of programming for veterans and first responders! BLS (Balance Leadership & Self) sessions will begin in September and run for 6 consecutive weeks.

When it comes to caring for a herd of 25+ therapy animals including chickens, rabbits, goats, mini & large horses, a mule and a cow, every single dollar counts. The cost of feed, routine care, medication, and unexpected/emergency veterinary expenses are all factors we need to plan for, and they are rising.

Despite this, our top priority is always to provide the very best care for our herd. We wouldn’t have these programs without them and when they get the best care possible, they can give the best of themselves to their important work. Every donation, big or small, helps us make this possible! 💚

🌾 $8.75 buys us a bale of hay for daily large animal lunch
🐰$25 buys our rabbits a bag of feed
💅 $40 buys one of our horses a barefoot trim
🩺 $100 covers the farm call fee for emergency vet visits
🦷 $350 covers annual dental exams for our equines
🐴 $1,500 buys joint injections to keep our senior horses comfortable

Transforming our community, one person at a time

Animals as Natural Therapy provides mental & behavioral health services to youth and veterans in Whatcom County. Offering animal- and equine-assisted growth, learning, and therapy, our programs are led by compassionate staff including equine experts & mental health therapists. Our animal staff includes horses, miniature horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and a llama! Lessons of communication, trust, boundaries, leadership, self-management, emotion regulation and more are discovered through our equine sessions. Our programs have been successful for those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, anger management, PTSD, attachment, bullying, and many other challenges. ANT’s Mobile program brings therapy animals to visit seniors in facilities around Whatcom County, as well as to corporate events for stress relief. Thanks to our donors, no family is ever turned away for lack of funds ~ more than 80% of our participants receive some scholarship assistance.
