Join us as we celebrate International Youth Day - an opportunity to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. At ICC, we recognize the importance and potential of youth with disabilities in China, and encourage skill development through our Pathways Vocational Training Program.

Whether it is serving delicious drinks and snacks at our Little Ark food trucks, making beautiful handicrafts, baking German-style pastries at Bach's Bakery, or acquiring new skills through job training, ICC is dedicated to building independence and confidence into the lives of the young people we serve.

Xiu is a beloved member of our ICC Wansen Jiayuan family. In our care since 1999, we have had the privilege of watching her grow and flourish. Her sponsors have also witnessed this, and Xiu now writes her own sponsorship updates directly for her sponsors.

We wanted to share a beautiful paragraph she wrote in her most recent update.

"As March arrived, life gradually returned to its normal rhythm. Each day was a balance of work and leisure. Occasionally, I would look out the window and notice the quiet arrival of spring. Though life was simple, every moment was filled with the authenticity and beauty of everyday living."

Summer at ICC is in full swing—and that means Summer Camps are back! Children with disabilities from across Hunan province are enjoying joyful days filled with games, learning, laughter, and friendship. These moments are more than just fun—they’re memories in the making and providing moments of connection.

Each weekday, Renchao works at ICC's Little Ark food truck. She loves her job, getting up early each day to ensure she's on time, warmly greeting customers and bringing her cheerful, positive spirit to the Ark. We're honored to have such talented people like Renchao working and learning job skills at our Arks.

Meet Hua — one of the first children welcomed into ICC’s care back in 1997. Today, she’s 34 and thriving as a compassionate, capable member of our Wansen Jiayuan community.

But Hua’s story doesn’t stop there.

She’s now a valued ICC staff member — supporting our Family Partners Program as a part-time social work assistant, managing our Pathways Vocational Training online store, and even assisting in computer classes.

Recently, Hua joined our Therapy Manager, Alison, on a home visit. Alison shared how meaningful it was to have Hua there — not only as a trusted colleague, but as “a friendly peer and expert wheelchair user,” offering encouragement and insight from lived experience.

Yichen is cared for by his devoted grandmother. When ICC’s Outreach Team visited their home with therapy and special education support, she was overwhelmed with gratitude.

We showed her simple massage techniques she could do with Yichen—and she’s been doing them every day. Already, his strength is improving. 💪

An ICC home visit is more than therapy. It’s hope, encouragement, and a reminder to vulnerable families like Yichen’s: you are not alone.

Warm summer weather = opportunities to be outside!

ICC Outreach Team 1 recently moved their lesson with Muchen to the playground, and he had a wonderful time running around outside, playing on the equipment, counting and tasting delicious lychees!

Each team - comprised of a therapist, teacher and social worker - collaborates to evaluate each child and builds an individualized plan to help them develop new skills and meet milestones.
