Sudden Valley Yoga

Sudden Valley Yoga We provide healing through practice and empowerment in a small group or individual setting. We offer yoga and meditation classes with an emphasis on self-care.

Located in the Sudden Valley Marketplace. Namasté! NAMASTE! Welcome and thank you for visiting Sudden Valley Yoga! My name is Carole Sondalle, instructor and owner of Sudden Valley Yoga, as well as long term SV resident. My husband and I raised our family while working as nurses at the local hospital. I have been teaching yoga for 35 years, becoming certified in Denver Colorado in the early 80's before relocating to Bellingham and Sudden Valley. My teaching foundation is in Iyengar yoga where I was introduced to valuable body alignment and a great many props. As I sought freedom of expression for myself, I added forms of Vinyasa and Kundalini yoga styles into my ongoing practice. These teachings awakened me to subtle energy flow, and most importantly breath. Woven together, in each class, along with breath work and meditation is the philosophy that we are our own best teacher. "Every movement has a breath, and every breath has a movement." Take the journey-discover your breath!

PENQUIN WALK for SAFETY
Protect yourself on the frosty surfaces-walk with the confidence of the penguin!
In preparation-*wear footwear that provides traction, *only carry what you need, *take your hands out of your pockets!
Move slowly with awareness, knees relaxed, feet slightly turned out, arms out for balance.
Take small, short steps with a flat foot!
Step down from the curb, not out!
Celebrate the spirit of the penquin with this silly but grounding step!😊

The dark sky of the new moon is not empty, but a quiet opening, an inner stillness, a moment of pure potential! Growth begins in the unseen.
What is seeded now, rooted in presence, grounded in deep truth, begins to carry the energy of new intentions forward.
Sit in the gifts of silence and rebirth.🙏❤️🌑

Our Story

Instructor Carol Sondalle has lived in Sudden Valley for 28 years and has been teaching yoga here almost as long. Well grounded in her practice and in instruction, she has been teaching for 32 years. She built her yoga foundation in the Iyengar style. For Carol, this established beautiful alignment. However, along her journey, she sought freedom of expression for the individual body on its unique journey. She incorporated Hatha, Vinyasa, and Kundalini Yoga into her own practice and blends these styles with breath in each class. Breath is the link between our body and our mind, every breath has a movement and every movement has a breath. As we adjust our practice to meet our ever-changing needs in the present, we honor and respect the body as we move inward towards our true nature. In this silence, we are our own greatest teacher.
