One of the most common questions I hear is:
“If I don’t want to take the medication… what supplement can I take instead?”

And I get it! When you’re navigating something like breast cancer, you want to feel like you have options - ones that feel safer, more natural, more in your control.

But here’s where we need to be careful…

Simply swapping a prescription for a supplement is just a different version of the same approach. And it can quickly turn into a long list of things that feel overwhelming and unclear.

That’s not what integrative care is meant to be!

The goal isn’t more. It’s BETTER.
More thoughtful. More personalized. More grounded in what your body actually needs.

Because when supplements are used intentionally - based on real testing, real assessment, and alongside your treatment - they can be incredibly supportive!

If you’re feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out what you should (or shouldn’t) be taking… you don’t have to navigate that on your own. Head to the link in my bio to schedule a consultation with me today. 🩷

I sometimes call it the “accommodation gene.”

Many women naturally have this “accommodation” tendency. They’ve spent a lifetime putting everyone else first - raising children, supporting partners, caring for aging parents, managing careers. And then, at 55, a breast cancer diagnosis lands.

It’s overwhelming.
It’s scary.
It’s life-altering.

Women who have been caretaking for decades suddenly being asked to become the center of care themselves - often without enough support.

That’s why guidance is so important.

Because in those first months, it’s not just about treatment.
It’s about boundaries.
It’s about asking for help.
It’s about allowing yourself to be cared for.

For the woman who has always taken care of everyone else - this is your time to take care of you. 🩷

After working with thousands of women over the last 20 years, I can say one thing with absolute certainty:

There is no single way to go through breast cancer.

I’ve seen women sail through treatment with surprisingly few side effects… and I’ve sat beside women who suffered in ways most people will never see or fully understand.

Every story is different.

What I’ve also seen - over and over again - is the incredible strength women carry, even in the most impossible moments.

🩷 Women making decisions they never imagined they would have to make.
🩷 Women raising children, working full-time, and navigating treatment while trying to hold their families together.
🩷 Women doing all of this sometimes with very little support.

Over the last two decades, I’ve dedicated my career to helping women through breast cancer using an integrative approach - combining the best of conventional medicine with supportive strategies that help women feel stronger, more informed, and more supported during treatment.

And now, my goal is simple:
→ To share what I’ve learned with as many women as possible.

Because no woman should have to navigate this experience feeling alone or uninformed.
If you’ve found your way to this space, welcome. 💕 I’m so glad you’re here!

Did you know that 50–80% of breast cancer survivors use supplements?

That tells me something important...

Women aren’t being passive when it comes to their healing! They’re curious. They’re proactive. They want to understand what they can do to support their bodies - beyond surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

I wrote a full blog post breaking down what the latest supplement research actually says - what looks promising, what we’re still learning, and how to think about supplements in a grounded, intelligent way.

For decades, medicine has operated in a very linear way.

Identify the problem.
Prescribe the solution.
Follow the protocol.

And to be clear - that approach has saved countless lives. I practice within that system every day, and I’m grateful for what it can do!

But when a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, her experience is anything but linear.
There is fear. Grief. Information overload. Pressure to decide quickly. A body that suddenly feels unfamiliar. A life that feels interrupted.

And while science absolutely matters, breast cancer care works best when it’s human and collaborative.

Doctors are human too. The system can be overwhelming on both sides. Which is exactly why compassion and partnership matter so much. 🩷

I don’t see my role as telling women what to do.

I see it as helping them understand their options - and supporting them as they decide what’s right for them.

Inquiry matters. When women are encouraged to ask questions, to slow down, to really understand the why behind a recommendation, the entire experience of care changes.

Education is essential.
But education without support can feel overwhelming.

For me, good medicine has always lived in the space between information and relationship - being a guide, a resource, a steady presence as women move through complex decisions.

“You want to be a guide on the side, not the sage on the stage.”

That philosophy has shaped my work for more than 30 years, and it continues to guide how I show up for women every single day. 🩷

The products I wanted for my patients didn’t exist... so I made them!

🌿 Terrain Defense was designed specifically for women who’ve been through treatment or are at higher risk. It brings together compounds we often look to for terrain support - all in one capsule!
🔥 Flash Relief exists because so many women can’t use hormonal options for hot flashes - and the alternatives just weren’t working. This is the non-hormonal formula I wanted for my patients, built around compounds I’ve trusted for years.

If you’re curious whether these supplements are right for you, you can explore both formulas at the link in my bio!

There was a point in time when conversations about nutrition, lifestyle, and prevention were dismissed as “alternative.”

Now? They’re finally showing up in mainstream medicine!

This shift has been been decades in the making, and it matters more than ever for women navigating breast cancer, survivorship, and long-term health. It’s about recognizing that what we as Naturopaths do every day matters, and that patients deserve personalized care that honors every part of who they are. 🩷

If you’re worried about nausea before starting chemo — or you’re already in it and struggling — here are a few natural remedies that could help ease your discomfort. ⬇️

• Ginger
• Diluted pineapple juice
• Acupressure or relief bands
• Acupuncture
• Aromatherapy inhalers designed for nausea
• And for severe symptoms, cannabis-based options (always a personalized conversation)

Not every remedy works for every body... and that’s exactly why personalized care matters!

Save this post for yourself or send it to a friend who’s starting treatment. 🩷

Cancer treatment can feel like an unwanted full-time job — one you never applied for and can’t clock out of.

And when you’re also working, parenting, caregiving, or holding everything else together… it can feel like too much.

One of the most important things I tell patients early on is that we don’t have to solve everything today.

You’re allowed to focus on what’s right in front of you — the next few weeks, the next steps — and leave the rest for when your body and mind have more space to carry it.

If you’re in the thick of it right now, this is your reminder:
It’s okay to take it one step at a time. 🩷
