🔥Hot take: I don’t love describing a juice fast as a “cleanse” or “detox.” The only reason I occasionally use these terms is because they’ve become universally recognized—and sometimes it just makes conversation easier.•
What do I call a juice fast? •Rest & Restore •
Because that’s a much more accurate description of what’s actually happening within the body.
When you’re juicing, you’re significantly reducing the digestive workload on your GI system. Juice contains mostly soluble fiber and only small amounts of insoluble fiber. Contrary to popular belief; unpasteurized, cold-pressed juices do contain some insoluble fiber— it’s the sediment you see at the bottom of the bottle (which is why I always tell you to shake before drinking 😉).
Due to the fact there’s less insoluble fiber to mechanically break down, the digestive system doesn’t have to work as hard, allowing nutrients to be absorbed more easily and efficiently. This is where the “restore” piece comes in—your body is being supplied with readily available micronutrients in a form that’s generally well tolerated.
Both soluble and insoluble fiber are incredibly important for overall health. However, for individuals with certain GI conditions, digesting larger amounts of insoluble fiber can be challenging and may cause discomfort or reduced tolerance to nutrient-dense foods. In those cases, a temporary rest & restore approach can feel especially supportive.
According to statistics, approximately 70 million Americans are affected by gastrointestinal diseases each year. For some, reducing digestive strain while still providing nutrients can make a noticeable difference in how they feel.
Juicing allows nutrients to be delivered in a highly bioavailable form, which is why many people claim to feel great after finishing a juice fast. This is also why we focus on vegetable-based juices 🥒🥕🥬—to support steady energy, stable blood sugar, and nutrient density. (Our seasonal juices are the exception and are intended to be a healthy treat 💁🏼♀️.)
All that to say…(Con’t in comments) ⬇️
