The holiday seasons often stir a wide range of emotions in people. It is important to recognize that these feelings are natural and can vary from joy to stress or even sadness. During this time, it is especially meaningful to be kind to one another. Small gesture such as offering a few more hugs, giving high fives, or sharing genuine compliments can make a significant difference in someone’s day. Kindness is not just beneficial for the person receiving it; it also positively affects the person who is giving it. Simple acts of kindness can change our internal chemistry for the better, uplifting both the giver and the receiver.

Oh hi. I didn’t see you there.

This is Charlie Boy reaching out with an important update from Dad. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, there are only three clinic days left before the holiday. It’s essential to plan if you need to book an appointment before the festivities begin. Yep… mom and dad put christmas stuff up early.🤷‍♂️

If you’d like to schedule a visit, please contact Dad directly or use the online booking system. Appointment slots are filling up fast—faster than the line for mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving! To make sure you get a spot before the gravy is poured, be sure to reserve your appointment soon.

Speaking of food, we four-legged friends have our own holiday favorites. Personally, I prefer deviled eggs over turkey. After enjoying two or three of those delicious treats, I practically turn into a squeaky toy myself! Dad is always yelling, “Not again…” but I’m never quite sure what he means by that.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

As we transition into the fall and winter seasons, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of ensuring an adequate intake of Vitamin D and how supplements can play a crucial role in maintaining your well-being during this time of the year. As the days grow shorter and sunlight becomes scarce, our bodies have reduced exposure to natural sunlight, which is a primary source of Vitamin D. This deficiency can lead to a range of health issues, including weakened immune function, increased susceptibility to infections, fatigue, and mood disturbances. To mitigate these risks, supplementing Vitamin D can be a simple and effective solution. Here are some compelling reasons why Vitamin D supplementation is crucial during fall and winter:

Immune Support: Vitamin D plays a vital role in boosting your immune system. A deficiency can leave you more vulnerable to seasonal illnesses.

Mood and Mental Health: Adequate Vitamin D levels are associated with improved mood and reduced risk of depression.
Bone Health: Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption and bone health. Insufficient Vitamin D can lead to bone pain and fractures.

Energy and Vitality: Low Vitamin D levels can contribute to fatigue and decreased energy levels. Supplementing can help you stay active and alert.

Reduced Risk of Chronic Diseases: Research suggests that maintaining optimal Vitamin D levels may reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

To ensure you are getting the right amount of Vitamin D, especially during fall and winter, I recommend considering Vitamin D supplements. My favorite is Bio-D- Mulsion from Biotics. Standard Process and Thorne are great companies as well. In addition to supplements, try to incorporate Vitamin D-rich foods into your diet, such as fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, and sardines), fortified dairy or plant-based milk, egg yolks, and mushrooms. However, achieving the recommended daily intake through diet alone can be challenging, especially during the colder months.

Taking proactive steps to maintain your Vitamin D levels can help you enjoy a healthier, happier fall and winter. Don't wait until the symptoms of deficiency appear; start supplementing today and continue to make smart choices for your well-being. If you have any questions or need further information about Vitamin D supplementation, please feel free to reach out. Your health is important to me, and I am here to support you in every season. Wishing you a happy and healthy fall and winter season!

Hey you. It’s me, Charlie Boy Hartman.

Enjoy the Lions game today and this gorgeous fall weather. Mom and Dad say hello!

Here’s a quick, healthy snack idea for the game:

Cream Cheese Pickle Wraps with Ham!

Ingredients:

4 slices of lean ham (or turkey)
4 small pickles (dill or sweet)
1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
Fresh herbs (chives or parsley), chopped (optional)

Directions:

Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each slice of ham.
Place a pickle at the edge of each ham slice.
Roll it up tight and slice into bite-sized pieces.
Serve and enjoy while cheering on the Lions!

Perfect for game day, and don’t forget to share with the pups too! 🐾
