I see this all the time in clinical practice.
Patients come in with neck and mid back pain, and a big part of it is myofascial distortion and poor mechanoreception in the cervical spine. So we start working structurally, rehabilitating the cervical curve, reducing anterior head carriage, or both.
And here is what we consistently find. Many of these patients already have TMJ issues, and a large number also have malocclusion without even knowing it. As we begin working on their neck, these jaw problems start to surface. If we do not address the TMJ or TMJD alongside the cervical spine, their pain increases and it actually limits their ability to continue with rehab.
When we address the jaw alongside the neck, everything changes. It allows us to go deeper into cervical rehabilitation, and patients tolerate traction much more effectively.
Now we are seeing research backing what we observe clinically every day.
Neck dysfunction and TMJ issues are deeply connected, and improving cervical structure can directly impact jaw pain.
👉 This study highlights exactly that.
**** Improving neck posture can significantly reduce TMJ symptoms.
So let’s Fix the neck!! Will change the bite. Change the bite, unlock the neck.
This is where structure meets function.
