Did you know you can gift up to $19,000 per person per year without triggering gift taxes? 💰
For individuals who want to reduce the size of their estate over time, this can be a powerful planning strategy. By making annual gifts to children, grandchildren, or other beneficiaries, families can gradually transfer wealth while also helping the next generation.

For example, if someone has ten grandchildren, gifting $19,000 to each of them in a single year would move $190,000 out of their estate. Over time, those gifts can significantly reduce potential estate tax exposure.

Estate planning often includes strategies like this that allow families to be thoughtful about how and when they share their assets.

If you’re interested in learning more about gifting strategies or estate tax planning, we’re here to help.

Understanding how a trust works starts with understanding the roles involved.⬇️
In many cases, a revocable trust is written in the first person. For example, Mary Smith may create the Mary Smith Revocable Trust.

Mary Smith would be the donor, meaning she is the person who creates the trust and has the ability to amend or revoke it during her lifetime.

She also names a trustee, the person responsible for managing the trust and carrying out the instructions written in the document. In many revocable trusts, the person who creates the trust also serves as the trustee while they are alive.

You can think of the trustee as the person responsible for making sure the trust does what it is supposed to do.

Understanding these roles helps people see how trusts actually function and why they can be such an important part of an estate plan.

If you have questions about whether a trust makes sense for you, we’re here to help.

As you’re clearing the dust from your home, don’t forget to tidy up your legal life. 🌿✨
A modern estate plan needs regular maintenance to ensure it actually works the way you intend, especially for digital assets that often pass outside a traditional will. Swipe through for a quick 3-step legal spring clean:

1️⃣ The Fiduciary Check: Are the people named as your executors and power of attorney agents still the best choices?
2️⃣ The Digital Asset Sweep: Do you have a secure list of your online accounts and a designated ‘digital executor’ to manage your digital legacy?
3️⃣ The Beneficiary Refresh: Your 401(k) and life insurance pass directly to beneficiaries—not by your will. When was the last time you reviewed these names?

If your plan is due for a professional check-up, my office is here to help.

Why do many homeowners choose to place their house in a trust? 🏡
One major reason is to avoid probate.

If a home is owned individually or jointly and the owner passes away, the property often must go through the probate process. Probate can take many months before the family even has full control of the property, especially if they want to sell it.

When a home is held in a trust, the process is much simpler. The successor trustee can step in and manage or sell the property almost immediately, rather than waiting through the probate process.

In many cases, this can save families significant time, stress, and even money. Probate related expenses and carrying costs on a property can sometimes add up to tens of thousands of dollars.

Planning ahead helps make things easier for the people you leave behind.

If you have questions about whether a trust makes sense for your home, we’re here to help.

Before law… Dale was a Scientist. 🔬⚖️
Before becoming an Estate Planning Attorney, Dale spent years studying science and math. That background shaped the way he approaches estate planning today.

At its core, estate planning is about problem solving. Every client has different goals, different family dynamics, and different financial situations. Dale’s analytical background allows him to quickly evaluate multiple options, weigh the pros and cons, and help clients understand the best path forward.

Instead of complicated legal language, he focuses on explaining strategies in a way that actually makes sense so clients can feel confident in the decisions they make.

That combination of analytical thinking and real conversations with clients is what helps create thoughtful, effective estate plans.

If you’re thinking about starting your estate plan or updating an existing one, we’re here to help.

From the lab to the people business.🔬
Making the transition from analytical, behind the scenes work to a people focused profession can feel like a big leap. But sometimes the skills you think belong in one world end up being exactly what you need in another.

Both Dale and Lindsey started in highly analytical environments. Math. Science. Systems. Structure.

What surprised them most was how valuable those skills became in estate planning.

Because estate planning is not just about conversations. It is about precision. Strategy. Tax awareness. Long term planning. The analytical side matters just as much as the personal side.

The difference is now those skills are being used to help families, guide decisions, and create plans that truly protect people.

Sometimes your background prepares you for something you did not even see coming.

If you are looking for thoughtful planning backed by both heart and logic, we are here to help.
