Ashton is going to be having a significant amount of testing done over the next few weeks. Right now, it looks like this could be anything from complications related to his surgery and chemotherapy to possible celiac or Crohn’s disease. No matter what the outcome is, it’s going to require a lot of work, patience, and prayer.

We appreciate everyone continuing to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we work toward getting answers and helping him feel better. 🎗️ 💛

Happy 7th Birthday to our incredible boy, Ashton. 🎊🎉🎂

Every birthday is special… but yours means just a little more. After everything you’ve faced, every candle on your cake feels like a victory. Watching you grow, laugh, play, and just be a kid again is something I will never take for granted.

You are one of the strongest, bravest little warriors I know. Through every challenge, every hospital visit, and every tough day, you have shown more courage than most people show in a lifetime. But more than anything, you remind us how beautiful life is and how important it is to celebrate every single moment.

Today we celebrate YOU — your strength, your smile, your stubborn spirit, and the joy you bring to everyone around you.

Seven looks pretty amazing on you, buddy. We love you more than words could ever say. 💙❤️

Happy Birthday, Ashton. 🎂✨🎉🎈🎊🎁

Ashton is officially discharged from the hospital and headed home 💛We are so thankful. He does have a referral to G.I. for further evaluation, so we will continue following up and making sure we stay on top of everything.

This has truly been an eye opener for us. Even though Ashton is in remission from Stage II Burkitt Lymphoma, remission does not mean the journey is over. There can be long-term effects on the body from both the disease and the treatment. Survivorship comes with its own challenges, and ongoing care is still very much a part of our lives.
There also needs to be more awareness about the PTSD and anxiety that comes with being a parent to a warrior/survivor. The fear doesn’t just disappear once the words “in remission” are spoken. The scans, the symptoms, the unknowns they all hit differently when you’ve walked this road before. It’s definitely not talked about enough.
I am so incredibly thankful for my friends and for the Isaac Strong Foundation, who truly understand this road because they have walked it too. It’s easy for people to say, “Everything is going to be okay. He’s fine. Just calm down.” And while those words are usually said with love, there is something so comforting about being able to talk to someone who has been through or is going through the same struggle. That kind of understanding means more than I can put into words.
We are grateful. We are tired. We are hopeful. And we will keep advocating not just for Ashton, but for all childhood cancer warriors and the families who stand beside them. 💛

This morning started with an amazing surprise My best friend Lexi showed up with coffee and donuts, and I don’t even have the words for how much that meant. In the middle of hospital rooms, long nights, and all the unknowns, having your best friend walk in with caffeine, sugar, and a hug just hits different. I’m so thankful for you, Lexi. You always show up exactly when I need you most. And as if that wasn’t enough sweetness for one morning, we also got to pet and play with a therapy dog named Tessa 🐾🥹. Tessa’s owner even said that sometimes the dogs are for the parents. I think it was such a great opportunity to experience. We also got some encouraging news — the doctors are feeling okay about sending us home at some point today. What a huge relief that is. We’re still taking it one step at a time, but hearing those words felt like a deep breath we’ve been waiting for.

Grateful for friends who show up, small victories, sweet puppy visits, and prayers being answered. Today feels lighter. 💛

Yesterday was definitely a very long and stressful day for our family. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, called, texted, and prayed. Your support truly means more than we can put into words.
This has been such a difficult time for us. The uncertainty not knowing exactly what’s going on or what comes next can be absolutely heartbreaking. As parents, that waiting and wondering is one of the hardest parts. I have to thank our friends and family for surrounding us with love, but I especially have to thank my amazing husband Matt Lee . He was an absolute rock for me three years ago, and he has been that same steady, strong rock again now. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without his support, kindness, and love. He packed up a sleepy five-year-old and headed to the ER after I called him at 2 o’clock in the morning. He drove all the way up to Children’s Hospital to sit in the ER with me and the boys. Then he turned right around and drove all the way back to Beloit to grab everything we needed to make mine and Ashton’s hospital stay more comfortable.

That truly defines the meaning of a devoted father and a real man. We are so blessed to have him. ❤️
