π The Staff of Hilltop Lodge and Staff and Residents of Hilltop Lodge Assisted Living & Community members gathered to honor & celebrate the retirement of Marla Cordel, as she enters her very well deserved retirement era! After 30 plus years of taking care of others, it is time for her to relax and enjoy!
Marla began her career at just 15 years old. She had the opportunity to take a Certified Nursing Assistant Class as a regular scheduled class in her high school curriculum. After completing the class, she began working at the Dechairo Hospital in Westmoreland, Kansas. After high school graduation, Marla came west to Beloit and NCK Tech College with an interest in Business and being a Teachers Aide. While at NCK Tech, she continued to work as a CNA. Even after graduating, she continued work as a CNA for a total of 17 years, before she decided to take a Certified Medication Aide Class. Once a Certified Medication Aide, Marla continued for another 32 years, for a total of 49 years in the profession. Her various jobs included personal home care, private community home care, hospital, nursing home, geriatric care unit, and spent her last years working at Hilltop Lodge Assisted Living. Many of the 49 years Marla spent working, she often kept busy working one job, then going go the next job as she spent most of her working years working evenings and nights. While at Assisted Living, Marla would be known to make sure there were Bingo prizes donated, the snack basket kept full, and many numerous items were always on the "sale table" which profit helped pay for Bingo prizes. She also donated many numerous items for the both the facility and residents. The Assisted Living staff and residents would like to thank Marla for her many years of knowledgeable and caring service. Marla, you cared for and helped many over your 49 years of service and thank you for that! We all appreciate everything that you have done!
