πŸ’ The Staff of Hilltop Lodge and Staff and Residents of Hilltop Lodge Assisted Living & Community members gathered to honor & celebrate the retirement of Marla Cordel, as she enters her very well deserved retirement era! After 30 plus years of taking care of others, it is time for her to relax and enjoy!

Marla began her career at just 15 years old. She had the opportunity to take a Certified Nursing Assistant Class as a regular scheduled class in her high school curriculum. After completing the class, she began working at the Dechairo Hospital in Westmoreland, Kansas. After high school graduation, Marla came west to Beloit and NCK Tech College with an interest in Business and being a Teachers Aide. While at NCK Tech, she continued to work as a CNA. Even after graduating, she continued work as a CNA for a total of 17 years, before she decided to take a Certified Medication Aide Class. Once a Certified Medication Aide, Marla continued for another 32 years, for a total of 49 years in the profession. Her various jobs included personal home care, private community home care, hospital, nursing home, geriatric care unit, and spent her last years working at Hilltop Lodge Assisted Living. Many of the 49 years Marla spent working, she often kept busy working one job, then going go the next job as she spent most of her working years working evenings and nights. While at Assisted Living, Marla would be known to make sure there were Bingo prizes donated, the snack basket kept full, and many numerous items were always on the "sale table" which profit helped pay for Bingo prizes. She also donated many numerous items for the both the facility and residents. The Assisted Living staff and residents would like to thank Marla for her many years of knowledgeable and caring service. Marla, you cared for and helped many over your 49 years of service and thank you for that! We all appreciate everything that you have done!

Today, Therapy had a few "Elves" help them decorate a tree during their treatment sessions today. What a functional treatment idea working on balance and reaching. These are all skills needed when we are putting things in cupboards or getting stuff out of fridge. More Holiday style treatment activities coming soon. Happy Holidays..

Hilltop Lodge Residents are the best! During our last CLASH semester, the kids made some kindness bags for the residents of Hilltop Lodge. In the bags were some candy, lotion, facial tissues, cozy comfy socks, and a word search book. The point of the kindness bags, was to first show kindness to someone other than yourself. To show the love that Jesus showed to us all. It was also a way to show our children that we can be mission oriented in our own community. The pictures below are some of our CLASH kiddos handing out the kindness bags to the wonderful residents at Hilltop Lodge. Thank you Hilltop Lodge for all that you do for the residents of this community and partnering with us in bringing a smile to the residents faces!!

Hilltop Assisted Living
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Faith Finder Kids & Teachers, for brightening our evening by spending time with us. We are truley blessed.

The following was shared by
Rebecca Kats & it truly speaks to the heart!

β€œKids and older adults are made of the same magic β€” one teaches us how to begin, the other teaches us what truly matters. And in every giggle and every gentle wisdom, God is telling His story through His people.”

I truly cannot say enough good things about our Faith Finder kids. They fill my cup β€” and then some β€” every time we’re together. Yesterday was the perfect example. We took 19 kids to Hilltop Assisted Living to play bingo and sing, and they showed such kindness and gentleness to every resident there. My heart was so full watching them. I am so proud of these kids and so excited to see what God has in store for us.
