We’re encouraged to see the Prison R**e Elimination Act (PREA) partnership with Rock County Jail, which helps promote safety, accountability, and access to support for incarcerated survivors of sexual abuse and harassment. Efforts like this are an important step toward protecting dignity and strengthening survivor-centered responses within our community.

Exciting updates from our Next Steps Apartments! 🏡 Construction is moving along, and we can’t wait to welcome residents to their new homes next month. These apartments will provide safe, supportive, and independent living for individuals as they take the next steps toward stability and self-sufficiency. The Rock County Anti-Human Trafficking Committee brings together local agencies, service providers, and community partners to address human trafficking through prevention, education, and collaboration. By working together, the committee strengthens community awareness, supports survivors, and helps reduce risk across Rock County.

Family Services of Southern Beloit is proud to be a member of this committee and to collaborate with partners committed to building safer, more informed communities. Collective efforts like these play a vital role in prevention and long-term community safety.

Want to make a difference while volunteering in a fun, hands-on environment? 🛍️ Volunteers at Thrift & Thrive - Family Services' of S. WI help keep the store running by sorting and organizing clothing, working the cash register, cleaning and maintaining the space, stocking shelves, and assisting customers. Groups and businesses are also welcome to volunteer together! Best of all, all proceeds from Thrift & Thrive go directly back to support Family Services programs in our community.

We are honored to recognize Margery Wakefield for her dedicated service as a board member with Family Services of Southern Beloit. Margery is deeply inspired by the wide-reaching impact of Family Services and the compassion, knowledge, and commitment shown by staff across our agencies.

Margery has played an important role on the Beacon of Light planning committee, helping educate the community about the realities of human trafficking and raising critical funds to support anti-human trafficking efforts. She has also been continually impressed by the professionalism and dedication of staff, especially after attending a state-led peer review at DEFY, where she witnessed firsthand the complex work being done to support survivors of abuse.

Beyond her board service, Margery values the meaningful relationships she has built with fellow board members and stays connected to the community through additional involvement and service. She also finds grounding through daily reflections from The Daily Stoic, which has been a source of comfort and strength.

Thank you, Margery, for your advocacy, leadership, and continued commitment to our mission.
