The family of Oscar Montero will be keeping the ancient Catholic tradition of “keeping vigil”, where the family and friends stay with the remains of the deceased after the Rosary, through the night in prayer, keeping watch in hope of the Resurrection. Rooted in both Christian charity and reverence for the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit, the vigil became a time of grieving, storytelling, psalms, rosaries, and entrusting the soul of the departed to the mercy of God. Friends and family are invited to join the family anytime after the rosary until Mass at 11 am, Friday May 8th by entering the East door.
Services to honor Oscar’s memory will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 701 East Court Street in Beloit, Kansas. Visitation with family present will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mylen Montero Education Fund.
