🌟 Employee Spotlight: Meet Amy Bortell! 🌟
This week we are proud to shine the spotlight on Amy Bortell, our Social Services Director here at Rockland Ridge. Amy has been with us since September of 2021, shortly after we opened our doors, and she brings nearly 13 years of experience in long-term care.
Before joining Rockland Ridge, Amy served as an Admissions Director, giving her a well-rounded perspective that continues to benefit our residents and their families today. In her current role, she is often a guiding presence—helping residents adjust, supporting families, and making sure each individual feels heard, valued, and cared for.
When asked what she loves most about her work, Amy shared, “I love the relationships I get to develop with residents and their families. I feel like I get to make a difference, and they definitely make a difference in my life.” She also spoke from the heart about Rockland Ridge, calling it “a great place to work,” where the focus on residents is at the center of everything and where the staff and management are truly top-notch. In fact, Amy says this will be her “lifetime home.” 💛
Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and is currently busy planning her daughter’s wedding—a very special season of life! She is also active in her church and sings on the praise team. 🎶
Amy has quite a few fun and unique stories too! She and her husband went skydiving for their 7th wedding anniversary and will celebrate 30 years of marriage this June. She was also a radio DJ in college and still holds an active FCC license! And in a full-circle moment, she shared that the first half of her career involved working with high school seniors, while the second half has been devoted to caring for a different kind of senior.
We are so grateful for the compassion, leadership, and heart Amy brings to Rockland Ridge every day. She truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents, families, and team. 💛
