April is OT month and I can’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate the profession I love so much! We put the FUN in FUNction and objectively speaking I think we’re one of the best jobs out there. In nearly a decade of practice, I’ve never been bored. I get so much joy from my job and feel so fortunate to have found this profession. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to practice what I love here in Central TX! If you have any questions about what OT does or how we could help your family, the inbox is open! 💌

Even if you and your mom friends don’t share the same profession, the value of low stress quality time with friends who love you AND your kids cannot be understated!

Vacations don’t need to be flashy and expensive. They can be as simple as a weekend stay at a friend’s house, a backyard campout or a trip to the zoo! Our kids want meaningful time with us more than anything else, trust us!

What staycations do you have planned this summer?

Even Peter Cottontail benefits from sensory play! Try one of these in a inexpensive plastic tub for low cost, DIY, real life sensory play this upcoming week. Your littles will jump for joy!

Oats
Rice dyed green
Yellow lentils
Corn kernels

Add some scoops and plastic eggs and watch their little minds come to life! 🐰

As a pediatric occupational therapist, I don’t just help children reach their potential by skill building alone. Our occupations are housed in the contexts and routines we live in, meaning what works for some won’t work for all.

Before you buy into the next viral trend to solve your problems, give me a call and let’s see if we can figure out wha works best for YOUR child, together!

Is it messy? Yes!
Do I recommend it? Yes!!!!

Just your resident OT friend here reminding you to let your kids make messes, it’s good for them! Multi-sensory play supports self-feeding, self-regulation and self-esteem, in addition to building fine motor strength and control. So get your SELF out there and make a mess!

What are your favorite messy play ideas? ⬇️

Facilitating play between siblings can feel like refereeing a match, but a great approach is to pick simple, age-friendly activities and assign each kid a special role. Family bonding doesn't have to be complicated or pricey! If spending time as a family feels challenging, we'd love to help. Reach out today to learn more about our services!

At Christmas, we’re reminded that every child is a precious gift. 🤍

Wishing your family a joyful Christmas filled with love, peace, and sweet moments with your little ones. 🎄✨

The most wonderful time of the year is coming!🎄

But also, the most overstimulating time for kiddos! With extra sugar, bright lights, loud gatherings and out of routine days, children’s sensory systems can get overwhelmed quickly!

Save & share these tips with a parent this holiday season! We’re all in this together!

✋🏼WAIT! Before dad (we see you silent heroes) takes those boxes to the curb, think about using them to build your babies motor skills this holiday season! 📦

Playin and and around a box helps babies:
✔️ Build core strength & balance
✔️ Practice weight shifting & cruising
✔️ Get calming proprioceptive input
✔️ Learn early language skills like “in, out, push, pull”

So happy shopping, and playing!

Always supervise + remove tape/staples for safety 💫

POV: It’s fun on the playground…But it’s also meaningful therapy supporting balance, coordination, and self-regulation. 🌱

3 other ways to activate your child’s vestibular system every day:

1) Crawling through tunnels or under furnitureHead position changes + directional shifts provide subtle vestibular work.

2) Bouncing on a trampoline or hop ball —up/down movement activates the vestibular system and helps with regulation.

3) Riding a scooter, bike, or balance bike — Constant movement, shifting weight, and steering give rich vestibular stimulation.

All of these everyday movements give your child powerful vestibular input that supports balance, coordination, attention, and emotional regulation. Activating this system is one of the BEST things you can do for their growing brain.
