We are celebrating 17 incredible years of dedication, expertise, and compassionate audiology care! Since our founding, Professional Hearing Center has remained committed to its mission: to be an Audiologist-led team of hearing and balance healthcare professionals who improve lives through trust, excellence, and expertise.
We couldnโ€™t have reached this milestone without the incredible support of Ascentist Healthcare and our ENT/Otology partners. Your collaboration and commitment have been instrumental in helping us provide the highest quality care to our patients.

Provider Spotlight: Abigail Michels, AuD
Dr. Abi Michels is from Baldwin City, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center with her Doctorate of Audiology in 2020. She completed her residency with Professional Hearing Center, and also has clinical experience in hospital, veteran, and pediatric settings. Dr. Michels sees patients of all ages and communication needs. Her areas of clinical interest include aural rehabilitation, cognitive screenings, and pediatric audiology.
Dr. Michels holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Her passion is to help patients overcome communication barriers to unlock a better quality of life.

Provider Spotlight: Abigail Dinkel, AuD
Dr. Abigail Dinkel joined our practice in the spring of 2019. She is a native Kansas Citian who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Leadership Studies from Kansas State University. She received her Doctorate of Audiology from The University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Dinkel has a special interest in pediatric audiology, working together with children and their families to help meet their unique communication needs, but has a background working with patients across the lifespan. Her highest priority is helping patients reach a point where they are confident in their communication abilities and where their hearing loss no longer holds them back from their life.

Jessica Dwyer, MA,CCC-A, has been a practicing audiologist since 2002. She graduated with a Masterโ€™s degree in Audiology from Wichita State University, home of the Shockers. She joined ENT of Greater Kansas City in July 2014. She is a fellow of the American Speech and Hearing Association, the American Academy of Audiology, and the Kansas City Society of Audiology.

Provider Spotlight: Liz Fuemmeler, AuD
Dr. Liz Fuemmeler is a vestibular audiologist and Clinical Product Manager with Interacoustics. She graduated with her doctorate from Purdue University and received specialty training in vestibular and balance disorders at Boys Town National Research Hospital and the Mayo Clinic. While at Mayo Clinic, she trained in a concussion evaluation and rehabilitation program, which focused on utilizing vestibular testing to identify the presence and extent of issues following a concussion. Utilizing this training, she established a concussion program at a private practice in Kansas City, MO and participated in interdisciplinary evaluations for the Concussion Management Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is actively involved in vestibular and concussion research and regularly lectures for local, national, and international conferences. Outside of her role with Interacoustics, she sees dizzy patients weekly at Professional Hearing Center in Kansas City, MO. She also co-hosts a monthly podcast for professionals called "A Dose of Dizzy '' that reviews current vestibular protocols and research. She also is the president of the Missouri Academy of Audiology and volunteers with the American Academy of Audiology as an advisor to the Student Academy.

Provider Spotlight: Sandy Brown, MA
Sandy Brown graduated with a B.S. in Communicative Disorders and an M.A. in Audiology from Kansas State University. Before working at the Otologic Center, and ultimately Professional Hearing Center, she worked in an ENT office and educational settings at Kansas State University and Southern Methodist University. Sandy holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology through the American Speech and Hearing Association and is licensed in Kansas and Missouri.
Sandy enjoys the areas of diagnostic audiology and vestibular testing, hoping to provide information to help patients in their daily lives.

Provider Spotlight: Julie Teefey, AuD
Dr. Julie Teefey joined Professional Hearing Center in 2016. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders with minors in Psychology and Disability Studies from Truman State University in 2013 and a Doctorate of Audiology degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2017.
Her audiology and hearing aid experience includes private practice, ENT, cochlear implant, pediatric, and auditory processing services. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Teefey is very passionate about helping people communicate to the best of their abilities throughout their lifespan. Communication is such an essential part of our daily lives that is so easily taken for granted until that skill becomes compromised. Dr. Teefey finds great joy in helping people work to regain that critical skill.

Provider Spotlight: Lynsey Ralston, AuD
Dr. Lynsey Ralston completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University and Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She has served patients of all ages, pediatric to adult and also has been impacted by hearing loss herself. Her clinical experience includes University, pediatric, private practice, ENT and VA settings. She has a particular interest in helping patients with hearing loss across the lifespan, tinnitus, sound sensitivity disorders, and osseointegrated implant devices. Additionally, she provides clinical training for student clinicians from local graduate and undergraduate programs. Through her personal experience with hearing loss and evidence-based clinical experience in audiology,
she aims to provide the best quality of life to her patients.

Dr. Erika Ward has been a practicing Audiologist in the Kansas City since 2004. She received her Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communication Disorders and her Masterโ€™s Degree in Audiology from The University of Kansas. She obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from Salus University. Erika is a licensed audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in Missouri and Kansas and a member of the American Academy of Audiology.
She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and helping them achieve the best hearing healthcare possible to improve their quality of life.
